Beth N. from Modern Jax took on a major pattern review for us, right as her son turned one and her family had a vacation! Amazing! Beth writes on her blog that she’s a “college professor by day, and a mid-century modern design fanatic by night…” She made three fantastic bags using the Indygo Junction Handle with Style book and three different sets of handles, then she filled us all in on what the book has to offer the rest of us. Check out her intro below and Modern Jax for Beth’s sewing creations (like her Tiki head softies!) and Jaxon himself. Be sure to enjoy her review as well!

From Beth N.: I’m a mom to a very active one-year old boy, Jaxon, and a wife to a very handy husband, Charlie. I work as a college professor of digital media at a mid-size state university, but it’s all to feed my addiction to fabric and mid century design! I started sewing home dec projects and reupholstering furniture and moved to personal goods, clothing, and baby items. I’m currently working on 3 or 4 different bags, a skirt, and a quilt, with a couple of other projects in the works.

Update September 2008:
Since my introduction to Sew,Mama,Sew! last summer, my son has turned two and I’ve opened an Etsy shop, but not much else has changed! I continue my “day job” as a college professor of digital media and my nights and weekends are spent sewing, sewing, sewing! I am really excited to take part in Sewing for the Home month because home dec is how I got my start in the sewing world.
