November 16 ~ Gifts for the Crafter

on November 16 | in Handmade Holidays | by | with 53 Comments

We, of course, have an affinity for all things crafty and found so many tutorials for your favorite, creative gift recipient. These would all be fun gifts for swaps too; we have several items here mentally paired with our favorite fabrics for projects throughout 2008!
Knitting Needle Case
Angie’s Knitting Needle Case Tutorial on her blog, Multicrafty, can organize “TONS” of needles in one handy (and cute) place.
Reversible Sewing Machine Cover
Marie adapted a pattern to suit her needs and shares the result on her DIYnamite blog in her Reversible Sewing Machine Cover Tutorial.
Sewing Machine Mat
Carina shares her “really easy” Sewing Machine Mat Tutorial via her craftblog|wardi.dk site.
Roll-Up Crochet Hook Case
June’s Roll-Up Crochet Hook Case Tutorial on her Craftybits @ PlanetJune.com blog has lots of clickable photos and an easy-to-follow diagram.
Clothespin Bag
Kerry’s Clothespin Bag Tutorial would be great for any laundry room, but we also think the bag would be a fun in any crafty spot in the house. It would be so efficient to pop scraps in the bag as you sew, or to quickly tidy up a knitting project (leaving it easily accessible!). Visit Kerry’s blog, live. craft. learn…, for more fun.
Point Protectors
You’ll want to whip up twenty or so of these once you read Alison’s fun Point Protector Tutorial via her small things blog.

  25. Ekioart says:

Yay! I love that clothespin bag. I’ve been pondering making something so that when the fall weather sorts itself out here I can do a bit of hanging clothes outside before it turns cold. ^-^ Plus I can make one for my neighbor, she’s always so cute hanging her clothes out, but always covered in pins clipped to her shirt. He He.

  26. Jean says:

i want to share this too: http://www.kquilts-studio.com/pincushionthread_catcher_tutori.htm it’s a threadcatcher for the edge of your sewing table with a pin cushion – i made up about 8 last weekend! They’re easy to personalize and the smile that sewers get when they’re given is priceless!

  31. Isabelle says:

I think I’ll have to make the sewing maching cover and the point protectors for myself. My poor sewing machine is covered by that hideously ugly plastic thing. Christmas for me!

  36. Mika says:

Oooh, I love the crochet hook carrier. My mom leads a knitting/crochet circle and takes projects with her anywhere she thinks she’ll be waiting for a while, so something like this would be a great gift for her!

  37. Missy says:

    Thanks for the great ideas

  38. Tammy says:

Well, a few more projects won’t hurt me! LOL

I have been wanting to make a machine cover for my serger for a long time. My sewing machine goes down into my sewing cabinet, but the serget sits out and gets dusty.

And I think I just might make a case for my knitting needles. I made one a while back for my small double pointed needles, but my large needles need a home.

I guess I didn’t get ideas for gifts, but I sure got some ideas for myself! Thanks again for the great line up of tutorials!

  39. Cheryl says:
