Excitement is in the air! Enjoy today’s ornaments, an amazing child’s toy and cute, little owls. It might even inspire you to revisit our Whimsy tutorials for an added smile. Don’t forget to comment anywhere on the blog for your chance to win one of two $25 gift certificates to Sew,Mama,Sew! this upcoming Friday! It would be fun to start the year with lots of new fabric.

Handcrafters’ Holidays Meme
We were in awe when we saw this child’s play barn over at Lil’ d, the main Christmas gift for this crafter’s two year old daughter. Just think of all of that intricate, hand sewing! In addition to the gifts she’s creating, she also shares her many childhood Christmas traditions in the UK and traditions she’s started since moving to California. Each year she and her children make a new ornament together and they’re looking for more ideas for American-style holiday traditions to start with the children. Enjoy meme answers and much more on the Lil’ d blog.

Reindeer Ornament
By Michal, Yarn & Coffee

Michal sells these cute ornaments and much more in her Paper Armadillo shop. You can modify this soft ornament approach for kids with fabric crayon drawings!

Mitten Ornament
By Stephanie, Providence Handmade

Stephanie made these felt mitten ornaments with Liesl’s tutorial. You can find several great how-to’s in our Fabric Ornament tutorials compilation.

By Amy, LucyKate Crafts…

We missed Amy’s owl giveaway but she’s hoping to add several to her shop, opening in early 2008. For now enjoy Amy’s blog, full of fun things like this Elf Hat (from pants!) Tutorial.

Thank you for the nice comments about the barn.

Susan Fisher: The wood animals are made by KidKraft. I had a quick look at their website and it looks like you can only get them as part of a wood barn set – but you might be able to order them individually as spare parts, as it lists them as parts too. I hope that helps.

I can’t thank you enough for taking the time to post all of these wonderful ideas. Merry Christmas to you!

  42. Lisa says:

I love all of these! We actually have something just like the farm that we got in France for our daughter. It has the inside made to look like a barn, things like flowers under the windows outside, a very convenient handle for carrying.. and the sides zip up with velcro at the top. Makes it very easy to take with us. I always thought it would be cool to make one and am impressed that someone did! And the owls are just plain COOL! (thinking they could also be easily adapted to make bats for Halloween!!) I love them!

  43. Stacey says:

How wonderful! Hope you and yours have a wonderful (and relaxing) holiday!

  44. Mary Beth says:

  45. Kim Langston says:
