December 24 ~ Wrapping up

on December 24 | in Sewing Inspiration | by | with 49 Comments

Holiday gifts are getting all wrapped up around here (some are still in the works though, to be honest!). Today we want to share a few photos and links that evoke a handcrafted holiday spirit, and tomorrow we’ll have a little something special too. We’d love for you to visit this beautifully written post by Emily over at shining egg about giving handmade. There was a flurry of excitement here all through our Handmade Holidays posts in November, and a buzz of handcrafting energy through December. It’s nice now to ponder, even just for the moment, the importance of what we all do when we work with our hands to create and share with others.

Don’t forget to comment anywhere on the blog for your chance to win one of two $25 gift certificates to Sew,Mama,Sew! each Friday!

100% Handmade
By Meg, elsie marley

We love Meg’s big pile of beautiful, handcrafted items, ready for holiday giving. The handmade spirit is thriving!

Tree Trimming Party Dress
By Jennifer, Mama Urchin

Jennifer made this darling dress from Moda fabric and pattern #22 from the Autumn 2007 (4/2007) issue of Ottobre. It was completed before the family’s tree trimming party, with enough extra time for Jennifer to make food for the guests! Check out the zipper detail and learn more about the dress on Jennifer’s blog, Mama Urchin. (Oh, and while you’re at it would you please be sure to look at her completed projects from 2007… WOW!)

I have had such fun admiring all the wonderful handmade items produced through the holiday season, via this site. My sister over at http://www.hashiworks.blogspot.com has made some amazing gifts, and across the Pacific, here in Australia, her family members have been the lucky recipients. I am so inspired by her work, and the fabulous creations of many other bloggers, that I might even convince myself to prepare early for next holiday season, and get creative. Thanks for a great site.
