Enjoy today’s kitchen, elf and Advent ideas. Don’t forget to comment anywhere on the blog for your chance to win one of two $25 gift certificates to Sew,Mama,Sew! each Friday!

Oven Mitt
By Suzanne, pink milk and fairycakes

Suzanne made a whole set of kitchen items and added them to our Handmade Holidays photo pool. In addition to her oven mitt she made a great pot holder, grocery bag holder and patchwork dish towels. Enjoy more from Suzanne on Flickr and find tutorials for all of these in our For the Kitchen tutorial compilation.

Elf Hat
By Michelle, Michelle’s Homestead

Michelle made this Elf Hat Tutorial to share with all of us! She writes, “…When I was growing up, whenever my mom was busy making or wrapping gifts for Christmas, she’d call it ‘Elving.’ That meant no matter what was going on, it didn’t matter if you had cut a limb off, you were not under any circumstances to go bursting into her craft room. The tradition has continued and I still use that term today – except I didn’t have an elf hat. Now I do.” And now you can too!

Advent Calendar
By Lina, Linaloo

We love Lina’s Advent Calendar and she’s happy with it too. It has just the right mix of simplicity and joy in the design, and we wanted you to be sure to see it now (so you can get started on next year’s calendar!). Follow the link for more on Lina’s blog, Linaloo. Her post about Advent goodies also includes links to some other great sites for ideas to fill calendars.

That Advent calendar is cute! I also think it would be neat to have one that is a gingerbread house, and each item decorates the gingerbread house. (Would probably work best in felt, unless you REALLY want to work with velcro or another fastener.)
