New Products & Free Fabric Friday

on April 18 | in Contests & Giveaways, Products | by | with 137 Comments

Another week, another set of beautiful new arrivals…

Rhapsody by Rosemarie Lavin

We love the hip European folkish feel.  (I swear my mom made us matching dresses out of something like this in the ’70s!)

Net of Jewels by Joelle Hoverson

These solids coordinate with the prints in Cake Rock Beach.  The warp and weft threads are slightly different shades, which adds dimensionality and beauty to the fabric.

Spring Trees from Kokka

These trees are big!  This would be great fabric for throw pillows or tote bags.  A wonderful Japanese import.

To qualify for our Free Fabric Friday drawing this week, please visit the first round of entries for the SMS Tutorial ContestComment in that post about any of the tutorials you see.  We’ll select 4 people to win one yard of fabric on Monday morning.  Have a great weekend!

    Gotta love those new fabs!

  93. Kristin says:

About the new fabrics, I’m curious about the new Cake Rock solids. How thick/stiff are they? Do they have a sheen to them (jewels)?

They are a little bit heavier than most of our cotton, but not much. They also do seem to have a very subtle light-reflecting quality. I don’t think it is a function of the finish, but rather the effect of the different thread tones.

  94. Diana says:

Love the tutorials! Such wonderful ideas. The crochet hook definately has a place on my to-do list but I think the first project made will be the tissue holder. I have seen these all over blog land but always thought I wouldn’t have a use for it. Do now! Just purchased some travel tissues for my son’s diaper bag (handmade by me) and wouldn’t it be fun to have a matching tissue holder to go in it. Thank you!

I am a brand-new sewer (yikes!), and I can’t wait to try the tissue holder. It is a project that even I think I could reasonably expect to finish in one day, and the instructions are not intimidating. Plus, most of us here in Austin, Texas have dreadful allergies, so the product itself will be so useful!

  122. Joyce Moore says:

    The tree fabric is wonderful!

  123. Reese says:

I really like the maternity belly band tutorial. Great way to be frugal (since it helps you use your regular tops), and a stylish layered look, too.
