Summer Sewing ~ Child’s Pool Robe

on July 24 | in Sewing Tutorials + Patterns | by | with 189 Comments

Your child can make a splash this summer with a customized pool robe. In just a couple of hours you can finish this fun, easy project. Print our free PDF, grab a towel and get to work!
A few notes about the project:

  • I made my own ladybug bias tape using a Clover 1″ bias tape maker, but you could buy double-fold bias tape.

  • Cut toweling frays easily. I used a serger on the seams, but if you don’t have a serger, try a straight stitch with a zigzag edge.

  • My 6 year-old is 50″ tall. This robe would fit many children both smaller and larger than she is, but you can also easily adjust the measurements. (Always cut to save the finished edge of the towel so you don’t have to hem.) You can use a bath sheet for a larger child.

  • Take advantage of the free applique templates and applique instructions provided in Elizabeth’s first and second applique posts.

Happy sewing!
