November 11 ~ Gifts for Bookworms

on November 11 | in Handmade Holidays | by | with 402 Comments

We have a thing for fabric, of course, but books almost rival that love. Give your favorite bookworm something special this holiday season.

spacer Handmade Hardwood Bookmark
Bruno shows how to make this unique bookmark (with permanent markers or a wood burner) in his Handmade Hardwood Bookmark Tutorial via Curbly.
spacer Reading Companion
Anna created a Reading Companion Tutorial on her Marmadaisy blog. The Companion is a fabric bookmark with an attached eyeglass holder.
spacer Chicken Scratch Bookmarks
Kerri’s Chicken Scratch Bookmarks Tutorial from Kerri Made is a fun way to gussy up your gingham (and it can quickly become addictive!).

Don’t miss these related tutorials from the SMS archives: Reading & Writing, Tote Bags (a.k.a. library bags!) and our Hanging Bed Organizer.

Here are just a handful of fabrics we love for some of these projects. Click on the fabric images to visit the Sew,Mama,Sew! shop:
