Free Fabric Friday!

on December 4 | in Contests & Giveaways | by | with 467 Comments

Well, how was your Give-Away Day?!  I am so sorry about the swampiness of the server those early morning hours.  Thankfully the heroes at Liquidweb (not just a gimic in my experience) worked some magic and gave the blog a quick tune-up.  As far as I could tell, it did the trick.  Hopefully those of you who gave stuff away got lots of new visitors.

We have some business to take care of:

  • FREE FAT QUARTERS–We’ll extend the newsletter offer for a free Amy Butler Quilting Solids fat quarter for one more day.  Use the code ABFQHH through midnight Pacific time 12/5 and we’ll include one free fat quarter for every $25 you spend.
  • FREE STUFF–We still need to announce three winners from November’s Handmade Holidays give-aways.  The winner of Seams to Me is Samantha.  The winner of the two Portabellopixie patterns is Jacqui.  The winner of the $20 SMS gift certificate is Katie.  Congratulations!  You’ll get an email from us today.
  • FREE FABRIC–We had to cancel our own give-away on Give-Away Day.  How sad was that?  Well, now is your chance.  We’ll give away one yard of fabric from the Sew,Mama,Sew! shop to five people.  Tell us something about Give-Away Day.  Did you win something great?  Did you get lots of new visitors?  Did you find some new blogs?  Did you buy anything from cool shops? Also, feel free to tell us what we could do to make it better.

Gift Certificates to Sew,Mama,Sew! are perfect for the sewists on your shopping list.  Better yet, write Santa a letter and tell him to get one for you

Tomorrow is our first round of Holidays at Home posts.  There is still time to get involved!  Visit the original post for the rules.

  1. I had a fun time zipping around the various giveaway sites. I was also amazed at the number of people who came by to participate in the giveaway on my little blog. It was lots of fun. I think that the only comment I had was there were so many blogs to visit, it was a little overwhelming. Also, having never had a give away before I didn’t remember to request people either stop back to check in and see who won, or make sure everyone left a way for me to contact them. Maybe more info for newer bloggers on how to set up an effective/smooth running give away would be good. Thanks though for coordinating this whole event.

  2. I discovered a lot of new blogs that day.

  3. MicheleQ says:

Give-away day was fabulous! I had so much fun reading all those blogs –some new, some old favorites. I got tons of new visitors and lots of comments. I didn’t win anything but it was fun to make new connections. Thanks for hosting…I hope you do it every year!

  4. froghair says:

give-away day was great fun. I had forgotten to prepare something, but I was able to whip up some cute coasters, which will soon be off to a new crafter! Very inspiring event — I look forward to the next one!

  5. Kirsten says:

Definitely exposed to a whole bunch of new blogs. There is a great community of people out there and I had a blast reading about who’s who.

  6. Anne says:

I didn’t think the response was going to be so big on give-away day – my blog kind of scared me and took on a mind of it’s own. It’s nice there are so many generous and creative people in this community. To improve the day, it might make it easier to categorize each giveaway – for example – baby items, fabric, holiday and supplies. Trust me, I don’t mind visiting blogs, but I didn’t want to enter any of the give-aways that had baby items because I really don’t need something like that right now.

  7. Dorte says:

Give-away day was the perfect inspiration-day – I read so many blogs and saw so many ideas, it was a super hit! Congratualtions to all who may have won something along the way!

  8. The giveaway was awesome! Took me all day to hit all the blogs. Thanks!

  9. Nena says:

  10. What a wonderful time! I looked at so many new blogs (added WAYY too many to my must-read list!!) and had some wonderful readers coming to my site, too. I only wish I had more time… even if my husband couldn’t believe Just How Much time I was spending browsing through everyone’s websites. Thank you a million times. Let’s do it again soon!

  14. Sherry says:

This was such a great idea. Unfortunately I was super busy that day and by the time I got to check out all the blogs I missed most of the deadlines! It was fun visiting some new blogs though and looking at all the neat stuff that people were giving away.

  15. Sunny says:

So much inspiration, so little time!

  16. Kay says:

I loved the give-away day. I got to explore so many new blogs! I really extended my bookmarks list… ;) And I also won a give-away! Such a nice surprise.

  17. Jackie says:

While I didn’t win anything on Give away Day, I did enjoy seeing and bookmarking so many new blogs. I think having a list of winners from each blog would make it easier to find. I lost track of which ones i entered.

  18. Liz says:

Giveaway day was great, except that it was only one day! I think having some set rules about having the contests open for two or three days would be helpful to people who don’t have time to get through them all in one day!

  19. Molly says:

My give away night was fun! I kept going back to the computer with cups of tea and just perused each blog I entered and found lots of cool blogs to add to my favs. I decided I couldn’t enter them all so I did a random hit and miss on the long list. I’ve been going back now even though the giveaways are over just to find new blogs. Thanks for the fun idea!!

  20. Alisa says:

It was so very nice to see how creative and generous people are. I loved looking at all the wonderful blogs and beautiful work. Thank you so much for putting it together. It was a great way to find new blogs and read others comments about things that were important to them.
Everyone just seemed so darn genuine. All in all it was a very positive way to spend a few hours!

  21. mikawendy says:

I just entered confessions of a craft addict’s giveaway (http://confessionsofacraftaddict.com/2008/12/have-a-craft-addict-christmas/). Her giveaway is neat because she asks each person to name their favorite charity.

  22. sherri s. says:

The giveaway was so much fun–as of right now, I didn’t win anything, but that’s OK! it was fun to discover new blogs. My eyes almost crossed as I finished entering the last one about midnight!

  23. I found so many new blogs during the giveaway and I’ve added them to my google reader to stay updated with them. Thank you for the opportunity to find these new treasures.

  29. jacquie says:

i had a ball! it’s taken me forever to read all the comments and now i have hundreds of new blogs to explore…i’m notifying my 7 winners today and i won something too. fun, fun, fun!

  30. Barbara H. says:

Somehow I missed the fact that most of the giveaways were one day. I had a deadline Friday that I was working on Thurs. and Fri., so by the time I got to looking most of them were over. Hopefully I’ll be able to look at more next time.

I do have a couple of suggestions: a Mr. Linky would save time for you in posting links. If you don’t use Mr. Linky, numbering the entries would help. For me, it’s easier to remember I left off at #25 if I have to leave and come back than to remember a name. And with Mr. Linky or without, it would help to have a little idea of what the giveaways are in parenthesis behind the name, e.g., “Arts and Crafts Blog (gift tags)” or “Creative Mama” (crocheted ornaments), etc. That way if readers don’t have time to visit every blog, they can at least find the ones that they’re most interested in.

  31. Lisa Martin says:

those fabrics are gorgous. I had such fun entering the giveaways you linked. Thank you for doing all that

  32. buebau says:

Although I missed it here, I’ve decided to make it too and I have a giveaway going on on my blog.
It was so fun to meet so many great blogs, that I didn’t knew yet.
I hope to do this again next here.
Stop by my blog and enter my giveaway too. Today is the last day to enter.

  33. Muriel says:

Thank you for organizing Give-Away Day!
I got so many visitors on my blog and so many great comments!
I will certainly want to participate in the next one you organize.

  34. Hedgehog says:

I can’t believe how many people commented on my give-away and all the others, too! They were mostly blogs I haven’t visited before and I added quite a few to my regular reading list! Thanks so much for organizing this!

  35. katie says:

I got lost in giveaway blogland, no house work got done, kids were neglected, husband thought I lost my mind and i was up until 3:30 in the morning. I had a blog hangover headache the next day. I was inspired and amazed at all there was to offer and generosity of this community. I look forward to doing my own giveaways in the coming months. I also look forward to exploring all the great blogs I found. More immediately I look forward to receiving the items I have won. I never win anything and today I found out I won three great items. I have been walking on cloud 9 all day. I can’t wait to share them as presents this Christmas. Merry Christmas and thanks to all who participated.

  36. Kelley says:

The giveaway day was a great idea. I now have a significantly longer “to read” list. The only thing was that because there were so many…and I waited until that evening to being looking…I didn’t make it in time for some of the deadlines to enter…I did get lots of great ideas and resources for crafting info and products. Again, GREAT idea!!

  37. Hannah says:

Wow! that’s quite a list of blog’s on the giveaway day!

  38. coffeechris says:

I couldn’t believe the response on my little blog from Give-Away Day. People are still stopping by 2 days later. I had a lot of fun checking out everyone else’s blogs, and reading the comments on my own blog. I would definately want to do this again next year! Thanks for organizing it!

  42. Hannah says:

I could spend hours looking at sewing blogs – and sometimes I do. I loved the give away list and have added many to my already long list of sewing blogs I check daily. Thanks!

  44. Lorraine says:

I enjoyed GAD! Sadly, I only got round to visiting half the blogs. But it was so much fun discovering all that talent out there. What a treat.

  45. Leslie says:

There were a lot of great giveaways! I found some great new blogs, and some great gift ideas! I think one thing that would make it a lot easier is to have the blog that is giving away the prize list their blog and their prize on your list. That way the people can see what the blog is giving away before clicking on it. Does that make sense :P It was so much fun and I think you guys did an awesome job!!

  46. Jenny says:

The giveaway was a wonderful experiance. There were so many people who participated. I never expected so many people to participate. Thanks to all who offered such great giveaways and thanks to all who left comments.

  47. Betsy says:

:-( woe is me – I started a new job on Monday and my computer daily habits this week have totally totally changed- not having my own computer or own desk yet did not help either – and I totally forgot about Give Away Day – until now.

Looks like it was wonderful, though. I hope things settle down so I can participate in the next one!!!

  61. shelli says:

I’m STILL reading all of the blogs! ;)

  75. Holy Clicking, Batman! I’m still recovering from the word verification nightmares!!! JK. It was really cool to see all of the fantastic talent out there! Maybe next year I’ll be able to participate in the great giveaway. . . maybe make it a couple days minimum for all giveaways next time though. . . Thanks to all that hosted giveaways.

  76. I loved giveaway day! I didn’t get through the whoel list, but will visit the rest just for giggles. It moved a lot of traffic to my blog. The only thing to make it better, is to make it a whole week so we have time to get to them all .

  77. Suzi says:

  91. Jodie says:

The most amazing part of Give Away Day wasn’t the winning (I didn’t), it was just taking a few minutes to check out some great blogs that I wouldn’t have found any other way. My “bookmarks” folder is getting full – there are so many that I’m planning to check back on. The talent is amazing and the inspiration is priceless. THank you!

what an amazing day. I received a record number of visitors to my blog and had so much fun visiting the others. thank so much for hosting, can’t wait for next year’s giveaway day!!!

  100. whitney says:

I enjoyed finding some new blogs to check back on, but I never did make it through the long list. My suggestion for next year would be to do a give away week. Maybe when you sign up you sew mama sew would assign you a a day.
I was also very disappointed that my blog was not on the list even though I sent in an email. Maybe you could also send a confirmation email by a certain date so if I didn’t hear back I could still send another email before giveaway day to get on the list.
I actually still have my giveaway going on, until Dec. 9th. Any change you could check it out and maybe post about it?
All in all, great idea for give away day!

  101. B says:

Give away day was amazing! The only thing I can think of that would help improve it is to perhaps make it for a Mon-Fri week or something for international people. Then we could sit back and take out time peeking at the sites and what they are about. I have a ton of places bookmarked now and it’s going to take some time to go through them and really look at them. I would have liked to do that then and there.

But what a great idea. I hope you do this again because you can count me in for sure. Thanks for the great tome and wonderful opportunity. I’m so glad I found your blog/site and you’ve got me addicted. Always so many ideas and great sites you link to. Keep up the good work!

  102. Susan Hahaj says:

My Giveaway day was a smashing success! I had 187 entries! That’s the most I’ve ever had in a giveaway by far! It was a lot of fun! And both winners were so happy to have won and sent me sweet responses. Thanks for hosting a fun day! Suzie Button

  103. Lisa says:

Thanks to SMS I now have many inspiring new blogs to visit…and I really appreciate that you featured some of my favorite bloggers. Thanks for the ideas. Now, I just need to work a bit less so I can get some of my must-do projects done!

  104. camellia says:

I was really suprised at the amount of comments some blogs received… I think one had way over 500 comments and a few others had up to 200+ WOWSERS… I’m really happy that some people have decided to extend their dealines to comment untill this friday and so on. It was truely exciting to have a chance to win a handmade item from all these generous people offering up their items. I did find a few new blogs that I will enjoy reading now and perhaps some new etsy shops I’ll be interested in. :D :D Yay for give-away day.

  105. Angie says:

I love the give-away because I like to find new blogs to follow. My suggestion for improvement is to make a give-away week—-each day be a different kind of artistian (their main craft). paper craft, jewelry, baby items, knit/crochet, sewing & quilting etc. That way each day your could surf the blogs your interested in. Because I spent hours and couldn’t even get 1/2 way down the list (I like to look at the blogs–not just leave a comment to win). Angie

  106. Bronwyn says:

wow! I was exhausted by the end – some really cool blogs I found and some very generous
    people – what a day!

  107. kathi pinkston says:

I was so excited to see all the creative ideas and goods out there in blog land. I bought three items during my visits, had a lot of fun, and even won a key fob.

Thank you for organizing such a wonderful giveaway during this holiday season.

    Sincerely,
    kathi

  108. Lisa says:

I was shocked by how many craft blogs were out there! I can’t believe how many giveaways there were to enter–I only had time to enter about 5, but I bookmarked quite a few pages for future looking and project ideas. Perhaps to make it better it could be organized into types such as knitting and crochet, paper craft, fabric craft, etc.? The list was just overwhelming that I didn’t know which sites I would be interested in visiting.

  109. bec says:

i got distracted by kids and so didn’t enter as many as i had hoped! you had a good turn out though. hopefully next year i will participate.

  110. Sara D. says:

My wrist got sore from all the clicking! And I discovered some great new blogs to follow.

  111. Shellyfish says:

Thank you so much for Give Away Day! I didn’t win anything, but I discovered so many new blogs!

  112. Sally says:

I just happened to stay home from work, sick, on Giveaway Day and then ended up spending the whole day on the computer visiting blogs! I saw so many amazing handcrafted items. I added a bunch of blogs to my bookmark list and I’m sure there will be more before I am finished. So far, I haven’t won anything — but one site did contact me with an offer for some items at a discount, just for visiting their site and commenting. I thought that was a very nice thing to do.

  113. lorchick says:

Wish i had known about it earlier, i actually started a giveaway on the same day totally by coincidence… didn’t find out about it until the day after because BLOGLINES is having problems on and off with your feed so I wound up popping by on my own two fingers… still managed to enter some extended entry giveaways, though. And I got to see some really interesting blogs! I really need to get on custom designing my blog, i feel ashamed when i see all these blogs that are just as creatively designed as the things featured on them, when mine is just a blank canvas… triple shame on me, because my training is actually graphic designer! LOL.
so the best thing about giveaway day? i think it inspired me to actually pull out photoshop, i haven’t installed it since i moved to my new house (in MAY… i’m so not all over it. at all.) Once i get it installed, i will makeover my blog, thanks to my newly found SHAME. LOL

  114. Norma says:

I had a blast entering each contest but I wish I had seen all sooner so I could give something away too!!! Do it again!

  115. Julie says:

I had a great experience with the Give-Away Day. I had more people come and comment on my blog then ever before. I had such fun reading all the comments people left and discovering new blogs. Thanks for the fun experience. julie

  116. Eunice L says:

I was surprised by the fun and generosity of the hosts- many of them expanded their giveaways to 2 or 3 items to accomodate the crowd. A little swamped with Christmas preparations right now, but I definitely plan to revisit some of these blogs!

  117. Molly says:

Wow! There were SOOOO many great sites on giveaway day! I wish that I had time to go through them all.

  118. A~ says:

Well, I didn’t actually enter any but I ran down thru the list of sites and checked lots of them out. Crafty folks definitely are happening!!! Great ideas and creative vibs.

  119. Julia in MI says:

I found a bunch of new blogs that I will be revisiting often. I’m glad you did this.

  120. Louisa says:

I had great fun visiting a bunch of blogs I hadn’t known about before! I am quite happy to have added several of them to my bookmarks folders. Thanks so much for organizing the giveaway day!

  121. Give-away day was great! Thanks to all who so graciously gave. There are a lot of creative people out there in blog land. Thanks to SMS for hosting such an event!

  122. Baba says:

OMGosh! I can’t belive all the wonderful giveaway you put together for this! It was a madhouse for me. It took me all day and most of the evening to get throught the list. Not that I entered every giveaway, because I didn’t. But I had to check out all the wonderful new blogs that I didn’t know existed before. So many. I have a lot more favorites now added to my list. It was amazing how talented these women are. And the giveaways that I entered were fabulous! I had a great day! Thanks so much for doing this. It was so much fun!

  123. kristine hanson says:

    found a few new blogs!

  124. shanna says:

Well I definetly spent way too much time on the computer that day and I must have checked the wrong box or something b/c i ended up recieving every other comment made on every giveaway i entered in my inbox. by the end of the day I had over 4000 messages in my inbox. But I did find a lot of new blogs that I had never seen and now have tons of new ideas for things i want to create!
    thanks

  125. Amy says:

What a fun day. I loved looking at all of the creative ideas.

  126. sharon says:

I wish i could have participated

  127. Katie Mitchell says:

I found the blogs on Give Away Day to be very inspiring. I’m always looking for new sewing blogs to be inspired by. I hope this becomes an annual tradition.

  128. denice says:

Wow! The giveaways were awesome! I am still hoping to win some handmade goodness… And as for my own giveaway, I joined late and still got a GREAT response. Thanks for hosting!

  129. Jessica says:

I didn’t win anything, but I found some fun blogs. Thanks for hosting this, and maybe next time I can do a giveaway too!

  130. Lovie Ball says:

I was able to visit almost every blog. Didn’t enter but a few, just reading some of the blogs were gifts enough. Added several to my “follow” list. This was a wonderful thing that everyone did, and I hope you will have another one next year. Have a great day. . . .Lovie

  131. daniela says:

this is so sweet, i’m not a fan of pink, but still once in a while i totally enjoy it and for quilting, i would not know what to do without pink fabrics for my girls…

  132. Anya says:

I found some great blogs, and some ideas for gifts. :)

  133. wendy says:

I spent way too much time following links on giveaway day! I found a heap of new blogs that I’ve never seen before… and have won a package of fabric-y goodness from Bits of Sunshine – so exciting! I also decided in honour of the day and all the generosity happening everywhere, that I’d do my own little giveaway as well. Check out my blog for details :)

  134. Kat says:

I couldn’t get through them all, but I entered some AWESOME giveaways! Thanks, and I can’t wait for next year’s!

  135. Holly says:

I just loved Give Away Day!! Although I didn’t win, I did find some new and fabulous blogs that immediately went onto my favorites!! And I was like a crazy person all day, going down that huge list making sure to stop by each and every blog!! Thanks for hosting a fun day!!! :)

  136. Michelle says:

My experience with the Give Away Day was generally positive. I found some fantastic new blogs that I am so excited to add to my favourites list. There were some AMAZING gifts being given away and I enjoyed going to every blog on the list to see what sort of post I would have to write in order to get my chance to win. My favourites were those who asked questions or gave you a little task (like one – write a poem or song that has to do with Moda Fabric and Christmas – how creative!)

The one thing I would recommend for the next one is to split up the people who are willing to ship internationally and those that aren’t. That way those of us who don’t live in the US and are trying to visit as many new blogs as possible could budget our time better (rather than reading all the way through a post and then finding out at the end that the person is willing to only ship within the US.) It was such a tease to show the wonderful giveaways only to learn I couldn’t win them! :) I also agree with the poster above about alphabetizing the list. I guess I’m one of those neurotic types too!

    Michelle

  137. Steph W says:

It was very serendipitous! I had more visitors to my blog than ever before!

  138. Mirza says:

I haven’t had time to check them all out but some really nice blogs out there. I loved the give away day because it gave me lots of new places to check out!!

  139. Ellen says:

Haven’t won anything but sure found a lot of inspiration!

  140. Carey says:

I still can’t believe how much participation there was! What a great site.

  141. beki says:

It was awesome! I discovered so many new blogs.

  142. Lalli says:

Although I did not win. It was really fun to see so many people comment on my Give-Away, it was so good reading all those comments. I went to each of their blogs and read about them and was really glad to see so many talented people around. This give-away drove a lot of traffic to my blog. It was awesome. Thank you Sew,Mama,Sew for giving us all an opportunity to participate in such a generous event.

  143. adrienne says:

Wow! What a busy day for a lot of servers! I didn’t win any goods but my RSS feed catcher is bursting at the seams. I hope you plan to do something like this again. Maybe you could stagger it by catergories on different days/months. Keep up the amazing work, mamas! =]

  144. min says:

I forgot to say the funniest part…I had my gall bladder removed the morning of giveaway day, BUT I had my blog all planned out and ready to go at midnight the night before (hard to stay up late when you can’t eat!). All I had to do for recovery was lay in bed next to my laptop and surf giveaways. Nice. :)

  145. Jenn says:

I haven’t won anything yet (I am still holding my breath for one give away), but I had a blast seeing how everyone’s creative juices were flowing in so many fun directions. Now all I need is some fun fabric to allow my juices to flow…

  146. Pam says:

I found lots of new blogs to visit. Pretty fun reading, browsing and just generally seeing what others are up to. :)

  147. Christy says:

It was so great of you to share all the other giveaway blogs. Thanks for sharing this season!

  148. min says:

Well…I had so much fun giving something away. I was surprised at how many people contacted me wanting to know how to make my napkins. Apparently, they’re not “out there” yet. I’m going to try to post directions and that’ll help me learn something new for my blog too. People gave me advice on how to find a host for a PDF and that was very cool. What a fun community.
    Thanks!

  149. BeckyR says:

I enjoyed viewing all the blogs! Great inspiration. :-D

  150. Katie says:

I really enjoyed seeing everything everyone was giving away. It caused a lo of brainstorming for me although I unfortunately haven’t won anything. Maybe the yard of fabric?

  151. emily says:

i made it to about 10 of the giveaway blogs before i was overloaded with inspiration and i had to go create. i will be coming back when inspiration is needed to look at the rest. that is a gift in it’s self. thank you for that.

  152. Emily says:

The Giveaway day was a great idea. I visited so many blogs that I had never seen before. It is inspiring to see the exciting range of craftiness that is going on out in the world! I entered a few. I would have entered more, but I really wanted to have time to check out all of the blogs in my limited free time. It was fun!

  153. Henrietta says:

I sat up until past midnight to get through all the blogs! Of course i had to read through most of them too! There are some very talented people out there! I can’t wait to get my own bog started :) Thank you so much for putting it together!

  154. Andrea says:

Argh, that giveaway list was tooooooo addictive! Overwhelming! How I’d love a bit of fabric to get back to crafting after so much screen time! (I’m having to catch up on a lot of negelected work I should have been doing instead of blog-hopping…) Also occasionally truly inspiring (like Buenos Burritos shine)!

  155. Limor says:

Give-Away Day was awesome. I found a bunch of cool new blogs, won some really great patterns, gave away a neat prize, and got 10 times the hits that I normally do on my blog. I hope that you guys do this again next year.

  156. Christy says:

It was so much fun going to all the blogs! So many new blogs to see, it is such a great idea :-)

  157. Sarah says:

I had so much fun checking out all the blogs and seeing all the wonderful give-aways, that I dreamed about sewing all night long :)

  158. Mandy Court says:

This was so much fun. I had so many responses to my give away. It was amazing. I could believe I had people form all over the world(Finland and Spain to name a few) visit my humble little blog. I also had fun looking through everyone else’s give a ways. What a great two days. I’ll be participating again for sure!

  159. Teresa says:

I found some great ideas for the holidays, even things that my kids could do.

  160. Sara says:

I got the give away dates mixed up so I was a day late! But I still saw some fabulous sites and some give aways extended beyond one day which was great. I loved the idea of talking about your favorite charity for the give away on one blog, in the midst of our cosume, cosume culture it really cut to the heart of the season, especially since I was drooling over all this stuff I could possibly win(cosume)! One thought of feedback – maybe list the blogs by categories? That sounds like such a huge (maybe impossible?) task but would be great for someone like me who sews but doesn’t knit or do paper crafts. Thanks so much SMS for ALL you do! You rock!

  161. Christen says:

Giveaway Day was lots of fun! I am new to the world of blogs, I know, where have I been? And was very excited to see so many crafty/creative people out there and find where I can visit them again. I got lots of ideas, but didn’t get lucky enough to win anything.

  162. Suzy says:

SOOOO many neat blogs. Now I am inspired to create…

  163. andrea says:

So many fun blogs to read!

  164. Jane says:

Well, I had “a few” comments left on my blog — 318 to be exact! So, it was fun. The ladies who won were so sweet and appreciative, as well, so that was nice. It was my first time to host a give-away, and I would definitely do it again! Thanks, SewMamaSew!

  165. Wendy says:

I had a great time going through the sites. I can read craft blogs all day long and I certainly did!

  166. sonja says:

Oh what fun I had…It took me 3 days going through the mails and my hubby just couldn’t understand why I didn’t wanna get away from the computer… so much fun !!!

  167. Teresa says:

My giveaway is still going on (until midnight tonight). I found so many new blogs! This was a great way to get readers for my own blog, as well. Now I’ll have to make sure I keep it interesting enough so they stick around.

  168. sara says:

I must thank you gals at sew mama sew for the initiative :)
I’ll announce my winner tomorrow and I can’t wait! I’ve had a ton of new visits and comments!
I still don’t know if I won anything at all, but it was so much fun just to get to know some new lovely blogs :)

  169. Amber says:

Yeah – Giveaway Day was fabulous – what a long list! And I won something too. I was lazy and forgot to email in my giveaway but I posted it on my blog anyway.

    Great job organizing it all!

  170. Dorrie says:

Hello. . .well, how fun was that. . .Give Away Day 2008! I was not expecting such a great number of hits on my blog. . .and everyone was so kind! And so many new blogs for me to peruse! It was so exciting, we’re definitely a pretty talented bunch. Thanks for sponsoring. I look forward to the next give away!

  171. Mary says:

I’d been looking forward to Giveaway Day all week…and then our computer went on the fritz and I couldn’t enter any giveaways! I was so disappointed, but I’m looking forward to next year!

  172. Teresa says:

I found a few new great blogs…thank you!

  173. Heather says:

You should host that kind of frenzied fun a few times a year!

Of course, it meant I spent more time than usual commenting on nearly every blog and seeing zero returns in my email Inbox, but lots of returns on the ol’ creative in box. I got myself started on half a dozen ornaments for this year and am quickly learning that handstitching goes a LOT faster than dragging out my machine and untangling the thread every 2 minutes. ~H

  174. Christine says:

Wow giveaway day was fantastic! I had more peopel comment than I ever imagined! Thanks so much for hosting it! I haven’t won anything yet, but I’m still hoping!

I think one thing that might be useful, although I don’t know that it’d be doable, is to post the deadline for the giveaways, or perhaps have a standard deadline. I’m not sure that this is necessarily a *good* idea but it’s one idea/thought I had.

  175. Debbie says:

It was fun to read some new blogs and to see so much creativity.

  176. Sarah Lee says:

I really enjoyed seeing all of the creativity! It was very inspiring to see the giving hearts that people have! I wish I would have participated!!! :) Maybe I will still host a giveaway soon! :) Happy Holidays & Merry Christmas!

  177. Sara McClure says:

Giveaway Day was such a great idea. Thank you for hosting this! I found some new blogs to keep reading, some projects to try and some much needed inspiration! A few ideas for how to make it better for next time:
    1. Spread it out longer or only post a certain number of giveaways per day.
    2. You could organize the giveaways in categories (purses, accessories, toys)
    3. Let us know what they are giving away
I’m not sure if this would help make it better, but I felt VERY overwhelmed and couldn’t get through them all. Thanks so much for hosting!

  178. Stephanie says:

I found a ton of new blogs that I just love! Unfortunately I did not get to register for Giveaway Day due to a colicky baby, but now I have new stuff to read and admire.

  179. mary grace says:

i found some AMAZING new blogs… such awesome people giving away great things and making other amazing things to sell. i have many new blogs on my “subscription” list and will be checking back soon! :) thanks for giving us all this opportunity!

  180. nancy says:

I thought this giveaway day was awesome! I ffound alot of great blogs to add to my favorites to watch with interests similar to my own. I am sure this project was alot of work, and I thank you for spear heading it. I enjoyed it.

  181. I was a day late to the contest, but many of the fabulous sponsers had their giveaways open for another day! Yay for me! I know it doesn’t always pay to be late, but it was worth the effort just to enter some of the contests in order to see some amazing crafters. Thanks for the opportunity.

  182. claudia says:

It was the first giveaway I did on my blog. it was fun to find something to offer and I was impressed with how many people visited and comment. it was a bit said that only one reader from my own country entered but, it’s how things work. I had a lot fun and now I’m trying to contact the winner of my draw.
I think I’ll try more of this in the future.

  183. Rhiannon says:

Giveaway day was a marathon! I didn’t win anything but I did find some great blogs.

  184. MaryL says:

thank you for introducing me to so many lovely sites…inspiring. Iwant to start sewing for nest Christmas!

  185. beccy says:

I didn’t win anything, but it was so nice to discover new blogs! My ‘to do’ list has grown to astronomical proportions too. It would have been good to have had a little more time to visit them all, or to group them by interest to find it easier to aim for the blogs you’re after. Having said that, I would have looked at them all regardless, there were so many nice thigs to discover :)

  186. Moonbeam says:

Man, I would have loved to participate, but my life is nuts this year. I hope to have some give-aways soon!

  187. Cheryl says:

I had over 260 comments on my giveaway, and there are so many wonderful people out there who left such sweet messages. Thanks for letting us be a part of it! I had over 1000 hits in 2 days, and almost every person was a new reader. I picked my winner this morning, so check to see if you are the winner of my giveaway!

  188. Olivia says:

I had a record number of visitors! I can’t wait to see If I’ve won something!

  189. Amy says:

Give away day was a lot of fun. I went to many of the sites and left comments. So far I haven’t won anything but I will hold out hope for another day or so! It was a great way to find so many more blogs to check too! Thank you for coordinating.

  190. Ashley says:

Giveaway Day was great fun – thanks for organizing it! Not only did I have lots of visitors to my site – all with lots of great comments! – but I also had a chance to check out new blogs. I actually found a lot of new favorites!

  191. Doris says:

I saw some great ideas, found some new great blogs, and best of all, I WON my first giveaway EVER!!!!!

  192. kirsten says:

I added what feels like 200 things to my to do list before Christmas, marveled at the creativity and talent out there and prayed feverishly for some. My husband said “you sure are on the computer alot lately”….rather suspiciously :).

  193. Linda says:

    What fun!
I managed to spend an entire afternoon reading blogs and entering the give aways instead of working :) I only wish I had a blog so I could have participated in the giving as well.

  194. Iluvbnamom says:

Giveaway Day was fantastic! There were so many great blogs and shops with fabulous stuff. I only wish I had more time to check them all out before all of the deadlines – thank goodness for the ones who extended their giveaway!!! I learned of several new sites that I had not seen before. I feel SO inspired – now I just need to find time to sew – any ideas on how to get my kids to sit still while I sew all day???

  195. jenne says:

I did find some new blogs! It was great, but I only got to about a 5th of the list–I think next time, listing the blogs in alphabetical order might help–I kept getting lost wondering which I’d been to already and which I still had to visit. But it was a great give-away-day nonetheless!

  196. Danielle says:

There were tons of giveaways. I wish I had time to enter them all!

  197. Sandy H. says:

Give-away Day was wonderful…I spent the entire day looking and reading the blogs – entering way tooo many give-away opportunities and just admiring the beautiful items that were there. I was in awe of the multitalented and generous people. Reading their blogs was peeking into their lives.

I would like to thank you and of course them for all of the work involved in making a special day! What a source of inspiration you all were!

  198. Malinda says:

I’m so happy to find so many new blogs to visit. There are so many creative people on the list!! I submitted for all my favorites, but haven’t checked back. There were a plethora of good give aways and really great creative ideas. I already feel like I won something with all the new finds!!

Thanks for putting all this together :)

  199. jill m says:

I was overwhelmed by giveaway day…in a good way, of course! I don’t think I won anything, but I found many, many new blogs I want to revisit and have them bookmarked. Also, l got lost of inspiration…not only ideas but also in terms of supporting my feelings and thoughts that I need to simplify our lives and that handmade is the way to go. The only suggestion I would make would be to extend the sugn-up deadline for giveaways for a few more days (some shops/bloggers did do this)…it took me two days to get through the list! Oh yeah, one more thing…maybe if someone could watch my kids and do my laundry so I can get started on all my new projects??

  200. Nada says:

i found tons of new blogs, shops, and inspiration!

  201. Hana says:

There were so many sites that I had never come across before and I made sure to check every single one of them to enter the giveaway and look around. I’m thinking it took me about an hour and a half to go through everyone :D Thanks so much for having the giveaway day, it was fun!

  202. Chris Worthy says:

How fun! I had many new (and wonderful visitors). The best part is that because I was giving away baker’s twine and vintage buttons, several people shared memories rekindled by both items — and that wasn’t even a rule for the giveaway! Let’s do this again soon!

  203. Oh my! There was such a long list to go through, how great to have so many people participating. Too bad the only time I had to really go through was four o’clock in the morning before some had time to post their giveaway. But I did find lots of great ideas and am grateful for the wealth of creative people to share ideas with. Thank you for all the time it took to put it all together.

  204. Rebecca says:

Thanks for hosting the giveaway day! I found some great blogs with lots of inspiration out there!

  205. Rae says:

I found wonderful blogs and saw that many others like the things I do.

  206. Christina says:

I missed give away day! But I can still browse all those great blogs…

  207. LisaAlso says:

I probably didn’t win anything (or at least haven’t heard from anyone yet) but I found some great new blogs!

That really was some list you put together! It took me all day to go to everyone!

    Thank you for doing this!

  208. Kristin Chiccarine says:

This was my first experience with Give away day and how much fun it was! My blog reader is exploding with new blogs to follow. More importantly, I was so inspired by everyone’s beautiful work that I decided to go through the SMS handmade holiday links and make gifts for people this holiday. i’ve been sewing for almost 8 years, but this will be the first year that people receive my work for gifts. Thanks for giving me the tools, confidence and inspiration to make this happen. I’ve already completed 3 gifts!!

  209. Tammy :) says:

Thanks for doing Give Away Day! I am new to all the blogging, but have just started my own now, mostly because of SewMamaSew! I enjoyed getting to see all the craftiness of so many people and look foward to sharing my own.

  210. indywriter says:

I remembered late in the evening, so I found myself checking blogs rather quickly. Despite that, I really liked the blogs that asked people to do something extra. You didn’t just have to leave a comment, you had to share a memory, or answer a question. I will definitely be checking out some of these blogs again.

  211. Beatrix says:

I think I spent over 6 hours checking out all the different blogs and links inside those blogs. It was amazing to see how big the online-crafting-community is. I will definetly particpate next year. Thanks to everybody for their gernerous and crafty give-aways.

  212. Leslie Newton says:

Loved to see all the sites. I did not participate…I had nothing to share. My head is exploding with ideas.

  213. Kristin says:

Thank you so much for hosting the Big Give Away day. The list was just amazing, so inspiring. I have really added to the list of blogs I visit frequently. Thanks to Quilt Dad for point me in this direction!!

  214. Catherine says:

It was great to see some new blogs that I’d never read before!

  215. elizabeth says:

Giveaway day was great… I never expected so much response at my little blog. Everyone had such nice things to say!
It was also great going to everyone else’s blog and seeing what they’re making. Lots of creativity and inspiration!
Thank you for providing the “master list”. I hope you girls do it again next year!

  216. Lyanna says:

What a wonderful idea this giveaway day was — it was so much fun to look at new blogs that I would not have even known existed before. So fun!! =)

  217. Debbie Kenny says:

I love looking at new blogs and this was a great way to do it. I tried to enter, but couldn’t log in. I guess I’m not very “blog” savvy!

  218. Sara R. says:

I found some really cool new blogs to add to my daily reading!

  219. Ollie says:

I got some great ideas for some ornaments to make. there are so many talented people out there!

  221. EmmyLizzy says:

I loved seeing all the new blogs!

  222. Jane says:

Thanks for all the giveaway day links… didn’t get to them all and didn’t win anything, but found several that I bookmarked… LOVE ‘True Up’! Thanks, S,M,S!

  223. water works says:

I really enjoyed visiting blogs and crafters I wouldn’t have seen otherwise. Lots of great ideas and fun stuff out there.

  224. Ann says:

I woke up sick on give-away day, so it was a perfect day to sit with the laptop and read all those new blogs! I didn’t actually register for too many of them, but I found something better instead-new reads! Thanks for introducing me to so many cool, creative people!

  225. Lots of new-to-me blogs, lots of wonderful eye-candy and ideas for Christmas and every day crafting. Thanx!
    Bobbie in Texas

  226. Michelle says:

I was shocked by the number of people doing the giveaways – that list almost made my head spin off! Thanks goes out to the giveaway folks! I definitely added a few new blogs to google reader, and even though I didn’t win anything, I’m was inspired by all of the cute projects I saw! My only suggestion for your list is to maybe alphabetize it? It would probably appease us neurotic types who like that sort of thing!

  227. WendyLou says:

I took ALL day to get thru them all, which wasn’t great on laundry day. Ha!! I was overwhelmed by all the awesome talent out there!! It was very encouraging to see so many ‘everyday crafters’ like myself creating what they love best during whatever time they have available. While I didn’t win anything ::sigh:: I DID bookmark !!LOTS!! of websites to revisit when I can. AND I found waaay too many new projects to try. Shame on you, Sew Mama Sew, shame on you ;-) This was SUCH a wonderful idea!! I hope you’ll do it again!! Who knows, maybe I’ll be brave enough to enter something myself …

  228. Amy says:

I really enjoyed getting to visit so many new blogs. I had no idea all of this existed! Yesterday I received an email from “little cumulus” that I had won her beautiful tote and homemade caramels, soon to arrive! I was so excited!! Thank you so much for all of the fun, and giving all those blog mamas a chance to receive but the best of all a chance to give/share their handmade goodness!

  229. Kirsten Larsen says:

I discovered a lot of great sites/blogs. Thank you so much!

  230. John says:

Thank you so much for hosting Giveaway Day! It was a great idea … especially having it so close to the holidays. I knew it would be well received, but I am BLOWN AWAY by the fact that I am nearing 400 entries to my giveaway … and it’s not even closed yet. It’s been great to see so many new names and blogs. Thanks again for all you do. I haven’t won anything yet myself, so I am keeping my fingers crossed for a free yard of SMS fabric! (I already know what I’d pick!)

  231. Kimberly says:

I enjoyed looking at new blogs. Thanks for all your work putting it together.

One suggestion – maybe bloggers could put a brief description statement of the blog’s subject matter beside their blog name in the giveaway day list so that browsers could target what they click on? For example – knitting and sewing for children. I have to admit I was a little discouraged by my inability to get through the whole list – it was just too long for the amount of browsing time I have in my day! I would have benefited from some subject matter guidance.

  232. I had a ton of visitors to my site thanks to Giveaway day! I met some great new people and gaveaway a fun cupcake! It was a lot of fun.

  233. Leah says:

Oh this giveaway was so much fun! I do not know if I have won anything, though I am still holding out hope for that:-) I like the suggestion of one of the commenters about bookmarking the list of blogs so I can go back and check them out again. Categorizing the giveaways in some manner (as also suggested by someone else) would be helpful, but might cause some blogs to be overlooked. I just appreciate the skill, artistry, and effort that I have witnessed in all of these giveaways. It is so inspiring! I may never “buy” a gift from the store again. I would LOVE to win some fabric from Sew, Mama, Sew, my new favorite fabric store!

  234. Beth G. says:

The generosity of the craft world is amazing. My favorite was the gingerbread girl. I probably won’t win her, so I need to get the materials to make her. I entered a few, but there were so many. I wish I had, had time to view them all!

  235. Linda Gilbraith says:

I found several new blogs that I plan to visit regularly. They seemed to have a sense of humor similar to my own. I am attracted to the offbeat wacky blogs. I am happy to see you had people participating with such a variety of different types of crafts. It was neat to see all the different things people come up with.

  236. Amanda says:

Giveaway day was much fun! I won a cute little pouch. I am thrilled to have stumbled upon so many new and exciting crafty blogs.

  237. Sarah says:

    I spaced and missed it!

  238. Sarah says:

I had a great time on giveaway day checking out all the new blogs. I had no idea there were so many good craft blogs out there! Now I have a new list in my bookmarks folder and lots of inspiration for holiday crafting. Plus it was nice reading all the comments about people’s favorite songs, traditions, memories etc. I didn’t win anything, but I had fun!

  239. Jessie says:

This was my first giveaway on my blog, and I was blown away by all the comments I received (over 200!!!) I am relatively new to the world of blogging, and of course trying to build my business, but it’s slow going. Every person had something nice to say, and I read every comment. I wasn’t sure how my little giveaway would do, but obviously it was a success! Thank you for hosting this great day, and hopefully we’ll do it again soon!

  240. Liz says:

I absolutely loved Giveaway day and hope you guys do it every year!! It took me FOREVER to get through the huge list of participating blogs, but I felt like if I missed one, I could potentially miss something really fantastic. Everyone put so much thought into their giveaways. I won the giveaway at http://funnymagic.typepad.com/weblog/. :)

  241. Jeannine says:

I read many blogs I had never seen before (plus a whole bunch on my reader). Thanks!

  242. Alisa says:

I only had time to enter about 10 giveaways, but I actually won something! 2 beautiful scarves from Creativa. One for me and one for (one of) my girls. There are some very generous people out there, that’s for sure. Thanks for hosting it. You have a great thing going here.

  243. Charissa says:

I found a lot of really neat blogs. Still hoping to win something…

  244. Terri E says:

I had so much fun looking at others blogs and what great give aways. Make me wish I was doing some thing like this and would love to do it next time.. Thank you so much for doing this..
    Have a great weekend
    Terri E

  245. Sara Hemmeke says:

Give Away Day was like entering a handcrafted mall – what a delight to see what everyone was making, get inspired for my own projects, and learn about a few new blogs in the process! Thanks so much for coordinating a wonderful world- & web-wide event!

  246. Sara says:

I was totally inspired by the quality and quantity of items that were given away – I for one will participate next year!!!

  247. Jamey Jackson says:

I am all fired up, thanks to your giveaway day idea and the many, many wonderful people who participated! I am off to craft ’til my fingers fall off :) Happy Holidays

  248. joey says:

I loved the give-a-way day but a week would be better. I fell asleep with the computer on my lap while laying on the couch and the next day I read on one of the blogs that someone else had done the same thing. I havent heard that I’ve won but some of the participants extended the give-a-way deadline. Next time I will definately be a participant and offer a give-a-way on my blog.

  249. MegVS says:

Didn’t win anything, but I did find a Christmas present through one of the blogs! So success!

  250. pamela says:

i heart giveaway day! thanks so much for coordinating!! i won a gorgeous handmade welcome sign!!!
with all the time it took to sign up for each one, i need another day or two to go through again and really savor each crafty blog. such inspiration! i think i’ll head to a coffee chop now and get a start on it…
    thanks!

  251. Keilah says:

I was so blessed by all of the positive comments! I had over 700 visitors, thanks to my maploco tracking and almost 300 comments. I had maybe four visitors before since I just started blogging. I found so many, almost too many other new blogs that I want to follow too. I am going to have to allocated my blog reader and writing time now or I will be consumed by this :)
    Thanks for the opportunity!

  252. sandy says:

Nope didn’t win and few visitors. Maybe next time it can be a week long.
    Merry Quilting

  253. karissa says:

i had a fun time exploring new blogs but alas I didn’t win anything.

  254. Su says:

It was fun! I’ve always been a lurker, but it was fun to comment. And to find all those new blogs to read!!

  255. Cathy says:

I didn’t win anything, but I enjoyed visiting so many new blogs. I found a number to add to my rss reader, and I was so inspired by what I saw.

  256. Meredith says:

I was on the computer for HOURS looking at all of the different blogs. Thank you everyone for all of the effort!!

  257. Marie says:

first, thank you for hosting this great day!! i was so super excited to win something, too! i won a stripey little sock monster :) it was such fun.

  258. Megan says:

Give-Away Day was absolutely amazing. I was a little overwhelmed at the size of the list but managed to get to every blog before I went to bed last night. I’m not sure how many giveaways I entered and am still crossing my fingers that I win something. Hehe. Also I’ve had over 150 visitors to my site which is something I NEVER imagined.

Usually I look through comments here and click on a few blogs but now I have this huge list to use as a great resource for future reference. And it’s just so exciting to read so many new blogs. Thank you so much for organizing this and to all the wonderfully generous participants!!

  259. Rita says:

I mostly looked at all the great blogs listed. Great ideas~ many plans…

  260. I am so sad! I was really busy yesterday and I completely forgot about it! Maybe I’ll remember next year. I’ll definitely be around the site more often to see what other fun things you guys cook up. I love sms!

  261. Harley says:

I got a ton of new visitors and comments. And my giveaway is still open through today if anyone still wants to enter :)

  262. Debra says:

I found great new blogs and added them to my google reader. There is so much inspiration out there! That coupled with your great fabric–who could go wrong! Thanks for putting it all together, awesome work!

  263. Annmarie says:

i had fun reading all the blogs, i don’t even think i made it through half of the list but i was great to see people’s projects.

  264. Toby says:

Oh my! My blogs to read list is soooo much larger now!!

  265. Somer says:

really inspiring, got to get sewing

  266. Hilda says:

What a great day! I spent far too many hours checking out new blogs! I think I even bookmarked about 5 new ones!
Thanks so much for putting this on! I have every intention of doing my own giveaway next year!

  267. Ashley Ann says:

Give away day was crazy. I had more visitors than ever before, and I was unfortunately only able to get through maybe half of your list! There aren’t enough hours in the day for give away day. I’ll be drawing in a couple hours. It was really fun! And I hope I won something of course. :D

  268. amanda says:

What a great blogging community event — I hope it becomes an annual thing! I loved going to everyone’s blog and seeing their creativity and ideas in action. Plus, I got something like 1500 hits over two days…I couldn’t believe it! I loved having the opportunity to give something away — nothing says “Christmas” to me like that feeling.

  269. Kelly says:

Give Away Day was awesome! I did get to browse to a ton of new blogs, and all of my suggestions are way too labor-intensive to institute, so I’ll consider it perfect as-is. Thanks for hosting and for the brilliant idea!

  270. Virginia says:

This is the first time I kind of participated in any online giveaway. It was really fun looking through all those sites and seeing what everyone is crafting/making/sewing. I discovered some new sites that I am going to take more time to browse through and some Etsy stores which were unfamiliar to me (that I may order from in the future). Not sure if I won anything, but participating is fun enough.
Thanks Sew Mama Sew for throwing it together!

  271. B says:

You got me hooked on give aways. Are you going to start a support group? I’d have to say that for my first one it was a surreal success with 172 comments. 1-7-2! I know. Nothing compared to some, but massive for someone who’s never done this before. AND I found tons of amazing site and blogs that I bookmarked so I can keep my eye on them. There are some beyond talented people out there and I hope I can learn from them. As for readers. I don’t know about that. It would be cool if I did, but I’m not counting on that. I’m game for the next one you guys host. Thanks so much!

  272. Mollye says:

Give-away day was amazing! So many blogs offered unbelievable prizes. It was like publisher’s clearing house except I actually feel like I have a chance to win!

  273. Marianne says:

My experience so far is to confirm that I am not at all lucky. I only comment on blogs I read on a daily basis but…..

  274. renee says:

I entered a few, but looked at many great new blogs. Such talent out there. I loved looking though and getting ideas and seeing what’s out there. Thanks for hosting it!

  275. Ruthie says:

What a great Giveaway Day I had. It was my first and I still am surprised at how many comments I had. I printed them out, cut them apart and folded them. A co-worker helped with the drawing and I shot a video of the whole thing. Thanks so much for organizing this event. I hope you do it again.

  276. lina says:

Giveaway day was amazing. Thank you for hosting, I couldn’t believe the number of visitors – almost 500 and as I asked for each commenter to give me inspiration for future ideas, I have more than enough to last a life time!

  277. Karen H says:

I really liked the chance to visit so many new blogs, I have a lot of new bookmarked sites now.

  278. Tina says:

Give away day was great!! i found a couple of new blogs to add to my reading list, there are so many talented crafters/designers out there! The other thing I really enjoyed about the give away day was how much nice things people were saying about each other’s craft. I think that really encourages the crafters! I mean, it’s so hard to get noticed.

So all in all, loved it! … even tho I didn’t win anything. =( nevertheless, it was a happy day. =D

  279. Mary Beth says:

I wanna win some free Fabric! I LOVED the giveaway day— I visited EVERY single site listed and entered for almost every giveaway! So much fun! Thanks!!!

  280. HomeBizLiz says:

The Give-Away Day was great! I entered a lot, but haven’t won yet. I did have a little trouble leaving comments on some of the sites, the google account wasn’t working for some reason.
Thanks for offering such a great give-away. I found lots of new blogs that I will visit often.

  281. Christie says:

I found lots of great new blogs (and am still working through the list!) I didn’t win anything (not yet, at least), but that’s the way it goes…and it was fun anyway!

  282. Amy Hunter says:

Thanks for doing the give away day! I found some new fun blogs, I haven’t won anything yet, but there are still a lot that are ending today. The thing that surprised me the most was how many people have entered my give away! Before Wed. the most comments that I had gotten on any of my posts was 8. I thought that it would be cool if I got 20. 12:45 a.m on wed. I did my post but I had to put a picture of my unfinished bag because I had run out of thread when I was trying to hurry and get it done. When I woke up Wed. morning and checked my comments I had 113. My give away ends tonight at midnight and I have had 531 comments. Thanks for the great idea of doing the give away. If you do it again I will for sure have something else to give away. It has been so much fun!

  283. Alissa says:

I won a little fabric bundle and even had my own give away because I woke up on the 3rd and saw SO MANY give aways in my usual blog reads that I had to join in the fun! I wasn’t on your list, but next year I will be for sure!

  284. Jennifer N. says:

Wow – give-away-day was pretty amazing. I’m sure there are small parts of the world that just stopped for a while. I’m just an interested reader who couldn’t get on the site on Wednesday – my free time coincided with the swampiness. So, Thursday I started looking at links when I could. I happy many of them held their contests open longer.

I found the sheer volume daunting. I know it’s a huge endeavor, but I wish there was a way to sort it by closing dates, or kinds of prizes, or even just hosting it over a week long period so it’s easier to sort through for those of us that really should feed our kids and get things done rather than looking at all of that bloggy-wonderfulness out there. There was so much information that it was hard to even see what was in the blogs beyond the giveaway – I’d love to see this broken down some how, into manageable bites – maybe even just hosting something like this on a once-a-week basis, limited to some number, like 25 at a time, but a different group every week, so everybody gets a fair chance for readers to see what they’ve offered.

I haven’t won anything yet – but there are some tutorials I’m hoping to see soon (there’s a reusable grocery bag that folds into a small square on a site from Australia that said she was posting soon). Thanks for everything. I’m sure it was bigger than anything you imagined.

  285. lisap says:

This sweet combination of prints confirms that Spring is coming! I start looking forward to it on or about the first snowfall!

  286. Samantha says:

Give-Away Day was a great idea! It was fun to read some new blogs and to see what people are making.

  287. Dena C says:

I had such a blast yesterday spending 2 hours going thru the blog list and checking out the beautiful goodies that people were giving away. I bookmarked several blogs and actually heard back from a few blog owners who were so sweet to say hello.

I totally look forward to doing this again!

  288. Beca says:

oh!!! I’m the first to comment! I’ve visited your blog on a few occasions and Give-away-day was one of them and I’ll be sure to come back now!! What a great idea! I think I entered all the giveaways!!! I also found some great places to get some Christmas gifts!! Thanks sew much! ha! :)

  289. Dawn says:

I enjoyed Give-Away Day because I got to find some blogs I didn’t even know were out there! The blogs are such a wonderful resource for ideas, encouragement and support…it’s amazing how much we all have in common and how helpful it is (for me, at least) to read about the experiences of other people who are balancing creativity, (some are) rearing children, and keeping home running &/or working. Thank you to everyone who finds time amongst the other responsibilities to write about it all!

  290. Christy says:

I have a fabulous time! I got many new visitors and even managed to visited a ton of new blogs myself. Some of the stuff mamas were giving away made my jaw drop, such beautiful crafts-mom-ship! My blogs bookmark list is overflowing lol, I’m going to have to make subcategories for everyone, just so I can find my way around again. I now have knitters, crocheters, sewers (man I hate that word), general blogs, mommy blogs, scrapbookers, and so many more all in the same folder to wade through to view the type of blogs I want, today should definitely be spent organizing! I do wish I’d have done one thing differently, I should have published my Give Away Day post in the middle of the night for the international visitors! Next year I’ll do better guys, I promise!

  291. Angie Nelson says:

I loved seeing all of the blogs that I did not even know existed, and some I have been reading a long time. I entered many drawings, but have not won any yet…

  292. Rachael says:

I have never had so much fun! Not only was it amazing to see all the generous people participating but it really opened my eyes to some great new craft blogs! Thanks so much!

  293. Celeste says:

I had lots of fun tooling around the blogs listed in your Giveaway Day post–thanks so much for hosting.

  294. Michelle says:

I found a few cool blogs and really enjoyed the day and November at SMS!

  295. Christine says:

I had fun on GiveAway Day, but could not visit all the sites…..I have an art show this weekend!!! but I collected a LOT of sites to visit after Saturday, and I’m so excited to have found them through this event. I haven’ t won anything (yet) but it was fun to see all the items..very generous!….that were given away.

  296. Stacy says:

Wow. That was a rush, I don’t know if you expected that amount of generousity or not, but I would suggest maybe a give-away week? Or at least include in the guidelines that the give-away should be kept open for a few days so we all can get the chance to visit all of the blogs and shops. I would have loved to had more time to browse some of the blogs, but I had to do it quickly so I could finish entering the give-aways before the end of the day. I did take 2 days to get through the monster list and did miss entering some of the give-aways, sadly. Oh well, I had fun anyways and my give-away is still open through Saturday, just in case any one else would like to enter!

  297. Sherri says:

I really loved your giveaway day. I looked at every blog, and while I haven’t won anything, I did find some great new blogs…so thank you. There is only one thing I think that could have made it better…to divide the list of blogs according to category…quilt blogs, knitting blogs, pet blogs, papercraft blogs, etc. But, hey, it was just perfect as it was…I had a great time!

  298. Lisa says:

Blog giveaway day was great for me! I don’t have a crafty blog so I spent some time exploring new blogs. I found a bunch that I’ll be continuing to visit. The amount of talent out there never ceases to amaze me!!!

  299. ChrisC. says:

Giveaway day was so much fun! I definitely discovered some great new blogs, and had a chance to win some amazing stuff! I also found looking at everyone’s giveaways to be really inspiring — I got so many wonderful ideas for things to make myself. Hurray! Thanks for this great day!

  300. Sarah says:

On the positive side, Giveaway Day definitely introduced me to some great new blogs. However, can I suggest that next year it might be Giveaway Week instead? I came to the end of that day mostly feeling frustrated with myself for wasting so much time on the computer! It would be so much better if we knew we had a whole week to browse through that long list of blogs. Thanks to all of those who offered up such amazing prizes!

  301. whitney says:

Hm, something great…. I painted my small dining nook a dark cool gray! Now my vintage white white table chairs look simply wonderful in the the space!! happy Friday!!

  302. Char says:

I’m still chipping away at the list. It was pretty mind-numbing to try to visit all of the sites on Dec. 3 (in the hour or so that I had). Then yesterday I didn’t last much longer than an hour, either. It has been fun, though! I found about seven new blogs that I added to my bookmarks, and got lots of fun ideas. Thank you for hosting such a fun event! By the way, when a site required that I return to see if I’d won, I can’t recall which sites those were, and since I haven’t even gotten through the list once, I am not going back to the ones I’ve seen and didn’t bookmark! That method was annoying! Maybe next year you could have this event last all week–seems like a win-win for all.

  303. Lori says:

Give away day was great…the only trouble I had was the sheer volume of participants! I didn’t have time to visit them all. I would have loved it if you had listed what their giveaway was.

  304. Danielle says:

I didn’t win anything but got to see tons of great crafty blogs! Thanks for listing all of them!

  305. Maggie says:

I had a great time visiting all the new blogs and discovering new and talented people. I also got traffic back to my blog. I think next year I will do a giveaway too! What a fun idea.

I did win a beautiful scarf from Creative Reveries. I was so excited to wake up and find the email this morning. I may gift it to my friend Mollie.

I’ve never commented on your blog before and I just want to say thank you for all that you do!

  306. missknitta says:

I had the best experience possible — lots of people stopped by my blog, my givewaway recipient was very happy, AND I was also a giveaway some stitch markers from Little Turtle Knits! Thanks so much for hosting this great event!

  307. kristie says:

i had a WONDERFUL experience with give-away day. i was blown away at the number of comments/entries i received on my blog. but the best part about participating was finding great blogs and ‘meeting’ great people! i haven’t won anything yet but i have ordered something from one etsy seller that participated (so far…). i so hope y’all do this again! thanks for organizing it. and to all who participated: i’ve never seen SO MUCH talent!!! amazing.

  308. Margie says:

give away day was great! I found some great new and inspiring blogs. Thanks for putting the event together.

  309. Stacey says:

This is the first time I’ve been to your site, but I’ll be sure to check it all out! I’d love to win some fabric!

  310. Rane says:

Wow am I tired! So many givers and so little time! Maybe next time*I hope this will
become a yearly thing!* a little more time like giving week! I could not just sit at
the computer and check each site.(4 kiddies and a hubby not to metion a house and
holiday gifts to make were calling me!) Over all loads of new web/blog sites I had never known,
and loads of new ideas that I did not know about that has fueled my crafty homemade
gifts this year! Thank you, Thank you, Thank you, Thank you!!!! Very fun event! Your site
    is the greatest!
    Take care and keep warm!

I had sooo much fun on Give-Away Day! I found lots of great new inspirational crafty blogs! It was almost overwhelming! I’m not sure if I won anything yet, still crossing my fingers! Have a happy holiday!

  312. I didn’t win anything but man it was fun to see all the new blogs. I know it would be a lot more work for you but maybe including their tagline would be great to get an idea of who is who if we don’t have time to visit all. Thanks for your great blog!

  313. alison says:

I found more fabulous blogs to add to my favorites list!

  314. orata says:

I don’t think I won anything, but I enjoyed poking around and getting to see some new-to-me blogs as part of Give-Away Day.

  315. Mary Ann M says:

I’m just new to your site and I can’t express how amazing it is – and you give away free fabric?? How cool is that? I’m finding so many new blogs from your site. I love sewing clothes for my granddaughters and there is so much inspiration here…

    Thanks, Mary Ann M

What a great idea giveaway day was! I discovered so many interesting blogs, there are just not enough hours in the day!!

  317. meg says:

giveaway day broke my website while I was sleeping. There were just so many people playing along! It’s all fixed now and some mama won a little bag for her kiddos. What a great idea, I hope you guys do it again next year.

  318. Geri says:

OMG…what a wonderful experience. Thank you so much for co-ordinating this. I am happy to say I had over 450 comments posted on my site. I’m exicted about choosing a winner this evening. Can’t wait. I found so many wonderful give aways that I hope to win and tons of inspiration.

    Thank you again!

  319. Hashi says:

I loved visiting all the new blogs on give away day. I subscribed to quite a few so I can keep seeing the goodies these talented people create. It was lucky I was having a quiet day at work because it took HOURS to get to them all. My only suggestion would be to maybe spread the fun over a couple of days and limit the number for each day, so that it’s possible to really get to enjoy each one.

  320. Meghan says:

My son was sick on giveaway day so there was no time for me to get lost on all the fun blogs. Thanks to the many who extended their giveaways through Friday – I got a chance to play afterall!

  321. jacquie says:

i’m still having fun with my giveaway…it’s so great being a crafty santa and reading all the fun comments. mine doesn’t end till tomorrow so the fun is continuing! thanks!

  322. Chassie says:

Loved all the blogs on your giveaway list! Enjoyed going through and looking at all of them.

  323. Lauren says:

This is the first time I’ve remembered to check for Free Fabric Friday, Hurray! Giveaway day was seriously overwhelming. I now have a list of like, 100 blogs I want to keep track of, and one million things I want to try to make.

  324. Stacey C. says:

Thanks for setting up Giveaway Day–I saw tons of cute blogs, and was super inspired to get working on more projects (after I finish making my Christmas gifts, of course)!

  325. rebecca says:

I had so much fun just looking. I was blown away(as usual) by the creativity out there. So many wonderful ideas. I want to give everyone a hug and a big thank you for keeping me inspired.

  326. karen says:

LOVED all the fun I had Wed, and Thursday looking at new blogs and hopefully winning a new prize! I didn’t know there were so many crafty blogs out there. Thanks for the chance to win so many wonderful new things and hopefully I win some new fabric to go with all the new ideas in my head now!!

  327. shaina says:

Man! That was one long morning as I clicked on the never ending list and found such creative blogs!! I had myself a good day. Thank you! I’m going to be sure to join in the giveaway fun next year!

  328. Tracey says:

Sadly I did not win – but there is much amazing talent out there!

  329. anne says:

Giveaway day was cool, but I bet my boss, if she knew, wouldn’t much have liked it, given the hours I spent zooming around blogs and frantically commenting. Pretty fun for me though!

  330. Michele C says:

I spent a number of hours running through all the blogs. They were so great with awesome ideas and giveaways. I actually won a banner from Kristie at http://mycraftcloset.blogspot.com/. Thanks for the opportunity to meet new crafty bloggers.

  331. Erin says:

Wow! There are so many great blogs that I’d never seen before! Plus, so many of the give-aways were cool crafty things that I would love to learn how to make myself – I’ll never be in need of a holiday craft project again.
now… all I need is some fabric to get started ;)

  332. Melissa says:

I found so many new craft blogs that I can’t wait to explore further. I especially liked the blog by a dad that quilts. I just hope he passes on his skills to both of his children. How special would that be for him to teach his daughter AND son! Thanks so much for organizing the giveaway yesterday. It was great fun. Please enter me in the Friday Fabric Giveaway. Thanks.

So many links! I understand the desire to keep everyone on your own site, but having the links open into a new window – keeping yours as the master list open all the time – would have been nice.

Good job on the gathering and organizing!

  335. Jessy Roos says:

I loved Giveaway day! I got to check out a bunch of new blogs, see some cool projects and inspiration and (of course) enter lots of great giveaways! No luck in winning anything – but there are still a few that haven`t closed yet, so here`s hoping!

  336. Ellen B says:

I got through about half of the sites in between doing my job and enjoyed seeing some new sites…so far haven’t been a winner…maybe I’ll have a chance at the free yard. Thanks for another opportunity to be inspired by all the creative people out there!

  337. Natalie says:

Giveaway day was amazing, and I actually did win something. “Twiddletales” is sending me a charm pack. And, I felt like a winner form the outset, because you created a catalog of talented and generous bloggers. I never had time to visit every blog, but I am going to continue to go down your list, even after giveaways day, so I can meet new bloggers! Thank you.

  338. Jennifer says:

i want to give a great big “THANK YOU!!” to sew mama sew for their give-away day and the incredible listing of blogs. i’ve been searching through blogger.com for various arts & crafts and quilting blogs and it’s been tedious over the last month or so. this gave me a great opportunity to find and start following so many awesome blogs – each of which gave way to more blogs to search. i haven’t won anything from the give-away day, but i won just in the battle of finding great people who share their love of fabric and crafts like i do (or more!).

as always, i’ll continue to come back to sew mama sew and i think i’ll start my own blog after this experience. there aren’t too many people in my area who get together and this might be the way to find more quilters and crafters out there.

  339. elizabeth says:

am i really the first??? wow!

giveaway day was awesome! i visited SO many blogs! and i had thousands (litereally) of visits to mine in the last two days! so amazing!

in fact, the response was so wonderful i had to blog about it ::

I read a post the other day by another crafty lady and she was wondering if generous people become crafters or if crafters become generous people – the whole chicken and egg thing. :o) I thought about it for a while, too – and judging from all the giveaways yesterday – something is up with crafting and generosity going hand-in-hand. It’s one thing to offer a giveaway to get blog traffic. It’s another to really go all out with what one offers – and a lot of these ladies do. I am so amazed at what some of the giveaways include!

read the whole post here ;:
    http://bitsofsunshine.typepad.com/bits_of_sunshine/2008/12/giveaways-and-generosity.html

thank you, thank you for hosting the giveaway!

and yes, the fix mid-morning helped a ton!

and my only suggestion for next year is to have the blogs to visit open in another window when we click on them. i think that would take some of the pressure off your server!

thank you so much, again and again. this was great fun!

  340. Nancy says:

iI found some great new blogs….have bookmarked them for wonderful future reading..

  341. Linda says:

I was so suprised at the length of the list of blogs participating in give-away day. I was so glad that I took the day off work so that I had time to really explore all of the blogs. Although I didn’t win a prize (still have my fingers crossed as some extended the entry time) I found some amazing sites to add to my favorites list. Thanks.

  342. Kati says:

Thanks for hosting giveaway day! I had LOTS of hits on my blog and MANY entries in my giveaway. I also got to see lots of other great ideas and bookmarked many blogs to keep reading. It was fun! Thanks!

  343. jodie says:

I had a wonderful day hosting a giveaway and visiting some amazing blogs!

  344. Hilary Kent says:

I was completly awed by all the craftiness ( not sure if that’s a word) and generosity on the web. I am so inspired and my list of projects I want to try is now completely out of control. Thanks for hosting this fun event.

  345. What a great way to discover some new crafty blogs! Thanks for the dozens (and dozens and dozens!) of links!

  346. Monica Gee says:

Thanks so much for facilitating such a wonderful event. I have 245 comments over on my humble little blog that normal gets about 50 visitors a day! I was astounded. Thanks so much for sharing the craft love. I also discovered lots of new friends to keep track of! Thanks again!

  347. Micki Palmer says:

I didn’t win anything that I know of, but I found a few new sites that are very cool. Thanks!

  348. monica says:

I had so much more traffic than I thought I would and I always found a ton of awesome blogs!! Give away day was so much fun :)

  349. Christine Bolin says:

I didn’t win any of the prizes, but I found lots of great web sites to visit and really good tutorials. Thanks for showing us all the great sites.

  350. maryanne says:

I didn’t have my act together to offer a giveaway, but I loved seeing all the great giveaways from the MANY sites, and I even won a really cute pincushion from Karissa at http://kittykittycrafts.blogspot.com/.

My one regret was that there were so many sites I didn’t really have time to explore all of them thoroughly. I wonder if you could turn this into a weekly giveaway featuring only a handful of sites? I know that would be a lot of work for you as a blogger, but it would be awesome for me as a reader!

  351. Jessica says:

Give Away Day was so fun!…. So many blogs to peruse, but so little time to do it. Maybe next time, it can be Give Away Week! Thank you for your AWESOME blog!!!!!!!!!!!!

  352. turvid says:

I had lots of fun, visiting all those blogs, that were new to me. Thanks!

  353. Betsy M says:

Well, you could say that I won a bunch of inspiration looking at all of the great ideas on those blogs. Thanks!
    Betsy

  354. marcia says:

My give away day experience was virtualy nonexistant since I wasn’t feeling well and did not participate. So, you see, I really need the freeabric to boost my spirits! Thanks for all the great thoughts and ideas!

  355. Julie says:

I was inspired by others beautiful handmade creations.

  356. Jan says:

I love browsing all the posts and checking our the links to other blogs. I literally get lost in “blog land” but it’s a great way to find new blogs and see all the craft ideas.

  357. I’m just getting into sewing and I absolutely love your site! I especially loved bouncing around the different blogs on the free giveaway day, what a wonderful way to connect with fellow fabric lovers :) Thank!

  358. leah says:

i was surprised by the number of visitors i received on give-away day. i was expecting maybe 2 or 3 people to comment…people i already knew that normally visit my blog. it wasn’t as if my give-away was nearly as impressive as most of the awesome handmade stuff being given out from your list. but here i sit on maybe 80 comments, having no idea how i’m going to pick a winner amongst them all! i am so grateful for the wonderful new blogs i found whilst perusing through commenter profiles, and mostly for all the new people who found MY blog, which – besides practicing the spirit of giving in general – was the main reason for my give-away in the first place. thanks so much for this challenge, for making me get my butt in gear to make something, and for having such a great blog. hopefully, i can participate again next year!

  359. Sarah Cosper says:

I found so many new blogs to love. Thank you!

  360. Maggie says:

I loved the giveaway day, although I wanted to go to all the blogs listed, I wasn’t able to. I did find many great new blogs though and visited some old favorites I had forgotten about such as wondermommy and puking pastilles. Thanks SMS.

  361. katey says:

I think you doing wonderful job! more tutorials , tips, decor kid bedroom, and how to orgazier sewing room.

    thanks for the chance!

  362. Diane says:

Give Away Day was amazing! I felt like a blog superstar there for a few hours while the comments rolled in and rolled in! : ) And the bag I gave away found a nice new home. I haven’t won anything myself yet but I’m still holding out hope… maybe some fabric? Thanks for the good fun!

  363. britt says:

I went to all of them I think. Come of the people are mucho creative and all of them are amazingly talented. I had a great time!

  364. Holly says:

I loved giveaway day! It was so much fun, and I won an awesome beehive pincushion because the blogger and I both really like semi-obscure movies. But really the best thing about it is all the new blogs and shops that I got to see, and now my blog subscriptions have doubled. I wouldn’t change a thing!

  365. Alexandra says:

Hi! I was sadly out of the loop regarding Give-Away Day but now I subscribe to your blog – yay!!
Perhaps this will be my lucky day! I love your fabrics, books, tutorials, everything…. it’s all good!
    Thanks for the chance!

  366. Deb says:

I was in awe of the creativity and generosity of all these wonderful bloggers. I will definitely participate next year.

  367. Jody says:

The Giveaway Day was fantastic!! Thank you for organizing this wonderful event for the Holidays!! It was a great opportunity for me to learn of other great sites/blogs that I know I will visit in the future. There are so many talented and inspirational people out there and of course not to mention how generous they are!! I was lucky enough to win a prize at Sew Vermont…they are great women! Thank you, thank you, thank you SMS!
    jody

  368. Renee says:

I had fun looking at new blogs and I enter most of the contest. I did not win a prize but free fabric friday would make up for that if I win!!!

  369. Jeanne says:

I LOVED THE GIVEAWAY, I didn’t win anything but it inspired me to work on my own blog, which had been ignored for quite some time, added you as a blog I follow so the next time you do a giveaway, I can be included. Also found some awesome blogs, LOTS OF TALENTED PEOPLE OUT THERE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Nothing more fun than giving stuff away around the holidays. Thanks for all your hard work. :) Jeanne

  370. Carla says:

I started the list very early, just a little after you put it out. I did about the first 10. I was kind of disappointed with a few of them that didn’t have the give away. I had to go somewhere and then just totally did not have time to try any more. Darn!!

  371. Penny says:

My Giveaway Day was a huge disappointment (sorry guys) I emailed last week saying that I was going to participate, I put the button up on my blog. I posted about giveaway day, I hosted a giveaway, I linked back to S.M.S, I checked on the 3rd to see if I was on the blog roll and wasn’t, I sent an email saying I was not added, maybe it was an oversight and to please add me, sent the link to my post. Long story short. 2 emails later, still no response, still wasn’t added to the blog, whence I never got any new hits from over here, only had 17 people enter my giveaway. A huge disapointment.
Not a good start to the Holiday season and has given me a Bah Humbug feeling that I’m trying to shake off.

Congrats to all of you who were posted and received a lot of new visitors. There were some wonderful giveaways.

  372. ericae says:

I was late in finding out about the give away day so I wasn’t included in your official list. But I posted about it and held a little giveaway. It was my first giveaway and its been really fun to get comments from lurkers and friends alike. Thanks for the fun day!

  373. Anya T. says:

Wow, Wow, Wow! What a great day. Thanks so much for organizing Giveaway Day. It was great fun checking out all the wonderful prizes and the very creative blogs of very creative people. I had a lot of visitors to my blog and I also visited most of the sites on your list. I even won a couple! Thanks again — Sew, Mama, Sew rocks!

  374. Robin in New Jersey says:

The giveaway day was stressful! I wanted to check out every blog, but the website kept messing up! I was able to find a couple blogs to add to my favorites list. There are many creative people out there!

Looking forward to another one in the future.

  375. Hazel says:

The Giveaway day was fun! I didn’t win prizes but I did discover lots of new blogs and read about some very creative families.

  376. Sandy says:

I found a great new quilting blog – Crazy Mom Quilts. She makes the most beautiful quilts. Thanks again for organizing the Give Away day!

  377. Shanna says:

I am assuming we would tell you all this in the comments, right? :)
The one thing I liked about give-away day is that I found a lot of sites asked a questions of it’s readers. It made it a little more interesting to enter. Some asked what your favorite holiday sweet was or what your favorite holiday song was. It was fun.

  378. Jessica Mathew says:

thanks for coordinating the giveaways! i have discovered some new blogs and have been re-acquainted with some i haven’t visited in a while. super festive and fun!! thanks!!

  379. Mary says:

I was completely blown away by the over 400 comments I got for my giveaway. I’m closing it out tonight, and may even break the 500 mark! It’s going to take me months to get through them all. LOL. It was overwhelming, but SO much fun too. Thanks for organizing it all. :)

  380. Betsy says:

    I missed it…and I was very sad!

  381. craftytammie says:

I had a great giveaway day! I loved visiting everyone’s blogs, most were new to me. And I had 150 comments on my own giveaway! Thanks to everyone!

  382. Susan says:

Thank you so much for organizing the give-away day! I haven’t heard if I won anything or not, but it sure was fun visiting all of the blogs that participated!

  383. britt says:

didn’t win anything. but saw some great gift ideas and some great new blogs that i have started reading through and noting ideas. so even though i didn’t win. i still feel like i did because of all the new stuff! Thanks. and merry christmas.

  384. Ann-Margret says:

Well, I wasn’t able to give anything away and, as far as I know, I didn’t win anything but boy was it ever fun looking at all those inspiring, creative blogs! :)

  385. Beth says:

I think the traffic you generated for Give-Away Day is amazing. I wish I could have participated but this week I was too swamped. I will make up for it next week.

  386. janet says:

I was introduced to a lot of great new blogs that are currently bookmarked for me to return. I am kindof bummed that I didn’t win any of the many giveaways I entered. Maybe next year!

  387. Meredith says:

    Did you win something great?
I haven’t won anything (yet *hopeful look*) but I found lots of great blogs and added quite a few to my reader. I just aquired a new sewing machine and that always makes my brain go into high gear!
Did you get lots of new visitors?
Considering I haven’t posted to my poor blog in months (I’m planning on changing that today) due to internet issues and toooo much creativity I gotten a total of 20 visitors LOL!!! Wow
Did you find some new blogs?
I so found some new blogs. I found LOTS of cool new blogs.
Did you buy anything from cool shops?
Nope, not *yet* but I bookmarked a bunch of stuff, I sent some links to my mom, sister, and a couple of friends because it was stuff they wanted to buy either for themselves or presents for us *giggle*. I love the fact that I found all these wonderful ladies and gentlemen who handmake things with love and I DON’T need to spend money at X-mart or something similar to find things my family will love.

  388. Leigh says:

I won something! A very cool embroidery kit from cullenreedsullivan.com. LOVE IT! and I found tons of talented people out there with lots of cool things to say… thanks for hosting this!

  389. Judy says:

I had so many lovely comments on my blog! I appreciate all of the well wishes for my baby’s heart health as he recovers from Heart Block. My lucky winner was Shaina of Just Because I am Me http://just-because-i-am-me.blogspot.com/

  390. JenO says:

I can’t believe an already cool site, is even cooler with giveaways! It’s been wonderful! I love running to check the blog to see what’s new!

  391. Karen says:

    Wow – I think I am first!!
Being in Australia I have left my giveaway open so the US readers wouldn’t miss out and the response has been mind-blowing – more than 260 comments, all of them lovely.
I also found lots of great blogs to read and even won something myself.
Thanks for organising it – there was a lot of crafty-love out there!

  392. 292 comments! I’ll be picking a winner today~*~ So far I haven’t won anything, but I had SO much fun!! I can’t wait for another Sew Mama Sew give-away day!!!

  393. Barbara says:

Giveaway day was so much fun – I am so excited to have found so many cool new-to-me blogs. Thanks!

  394. molly says:

Giveaway day was fun — I found lots of new blogs and enjoyed seeing what people make — and give away. I would love to see the blogs either alphabetized or numbered next time — the list was so long I kept losing my place! :) I guess that is a good problem to have though.

  395. Christina says:

I haven’t won anything on Giveaway-A-Day (or actually on any blog giveaway, ever), but it has been very fun seeing new blogs and I always have hope that someday I’m going to win something!

  396. aSprinkling says:

I spent hours…literally…going to blogs and commenting to win something. Unfortunately, to date, I have not won anything. It goes that way sometimes, I guess. Anyway, I did see some neat ideas along the way and bookmarked some for future projects.

What I think would make it better is if there was some way to navigate from one blog to the next – like maybe a frame at the top of the screen. That way, you wouldn’t have to open multiple windows/tabs and wouldn’t have to keep going back and forth. And honestly, I would rather there be five giveaways a day for a month than four hundred and seventy in one day.

  397. Marilyn says:

Oh, I so wanted to win something….I tried and tried but no success….but I still love these sites and the pretties…..thanks!

  398. Josette says:

Touching. I am new to the blogging world and was overwhelmed bythe number of visitors and their wonderful comments. It was the best Christmas present ever.

  399. Karen says:

I loved giveaway day! Although i don’t think I won anything…it was great to visit all those sites and see all the talent people out there. I had such fun exploring all the blogs and sites. Thanks!

  400. Whistlepea says:

I really enjoyed Giveaway Day! The only thing I would suggest is separating people who only ship within the US.

  401. Samantha says:

My goodness that was SO much fun!! I visited just about every participating site- I have a zillion new Favorite bookmarks! I loved seeing how generous people out there in the world are with their time and talents- I want to do it next year!! Very cool idea………..

  402. kelly jo says:

I found the most amazing Etsy shops and beautiful new blogs! Give-away-day was so much fun! I hope you do it again!

  403. alisha says:

I enjoyed Give-Away Day even though I didn’t win anything. It was fun reviewing some new blogs and commenting. It might be interesting next year if you ask people to categorize their blogs — for example, primarily a craft blog, or food blog, travel blog, everyday-life blog, etc. That way we could start with the blogs that are of most interest to us. There were so many giveaways, I didn’t get to visit every blog. And I imagine there will be even more next year!

  404. Laura says:

I had fun seeing all the different crafts that people can make! I didn’t win anything but it was fun anyway!

  405. Hannah says:

alot of the sites you could only leave comments if you were part of blogger, so that was uhmmm.. interesting. But otherwise, tons of fun! Great to see all these sites, please do again next year!

  406. Southern Gal says:

I entered a few give aways. I think it would make it extremely easier to list beside the links exactly what they were giving away. I spent lots and lots of time clicking and immediately clicking back to go to another site when the give away item was something I didn’t need.
    Thanks!

  407. Kimber says:

Giveaway day was amazing! Although I didn’t win anything (as far as I know), being inspired by the generous and talented bloggers who participated felt like a gift. What a wonderful idea – I hope it continues next year!

  408. I gained a lot of new ideas and my favorites list is now huge. My goodle reader blog list has also grown!

  409. debra says:

I found so many great new blogs and such great inspiration for future projects!!!

  410. Pauliina says:

A big thank you for organizing the give-away day. It was so much fun browsing all the new-to-me blogs and great shops! I entered some of the give-aways and was very happy to find out I won a little beautiful something! :)

  411. Shawna says:

I really enjoyed the giveaway day. It was a lot to visit all of the blogs. I hope that you do it again soon! I would be nice if the blogs could be organized into categories. I know it is mainly sewing clothing and bags, quilting, and knitting, but there are a few others in there and that would be neat. I found some really awesome blogs that I added to my daily list!

  412. Shawna says:

I can not believe I had the time to actually check ALMOST all of the blogs. Thank you to all the Bloggers who gave away such wonderful things, and to Sew Mama Sew for organizng. I did not win anything but I added so many new blogs to my favorites.

  413. Lauren says:

Totally amazed & overwhelmed by the amount of giveaways! Thanks for organizing it!

  414. Denise Banker says:

I found lots of new great blogs, but sadly no winning stuff here.

  415. Andi says:

Give-Away Day took me on an inspiring tour of so many amazing blogs and shops. I couldn’t believe the length of the list and I still have some to visit! I think this was just the motivation I needed to get my own blog up and running – I can’t wait until next year so I can participate too!

  416. Laura F says:

I found so many new blogs and shops. It was really fun.
A big thank you to you and all the bloggers who are so generous!

  417. jenni says:

I am still hoping I won the giveaway I entered!

  418. Joy says:

The list of blogs on the Giveaway Day list was amazing! I visited them all and found some new entries for my Google Reader. I have to say though…there were a few blogs where I couldn’t find the giveaway.

  419. Carol C. says:

Give-Away day was fun! I got to go to ALL the blogs and entered some. I really REALLY enjoyed reading blogs and see more crafts and art work than I could have managed! I even got to pick up some good ideas from tutorials and pictures. :)

Thanks for the day and hope to see more!

    :)
    carol

My twins were even good that day and let me visit most of the sites while they were awake! :)

  420. Mirjam says:

Well, this Give-Away Day was a very fine idea in the first place. My compliments, girls!
Secondly, I was totally overwhelmed by the number of participants and their generosity. Lots of beautiful products, nice blogs, creative people. A real good warm ‘december moment’! (sniff)

  421. Fiona says:

Found some amazing new blogs! Couldn’t believe that I hadn’t heard of so many of them!

  422. Alice S says:

I love your favorite fabric choices this week. You can’t go wrong with pink! I didn’t win anything on Giveaway Day (though I sure commented on a lot of blogs) but I enjoyed seeing everyones crafts and talents.

  423. Becky says:

I loved give-away day. I discovered so many wonderful blogs that I can revisit often.
I was amazed by everyones generosity and am eagerly awaiting the next one :)

  424. betsy says:

well I could not participate because of my upcoming surgery but it looks like everyone was having fun and enjoying the giveaways.

  425. Viv says:

Give-away day didn’t really work to well for me. I was too busy to make something to give away, and didn’t get the time to visit many new blogs. However I did really like to ones I looked at and found some really inspirational crafters out there. Well done every one :-)

  426. Rebecka says:

Thank you so much for arranging the giveaway day! My husband was working late that night so I had time to visit a lot of the blogs in your list and I found tons of nice ones I hadn’t seen before.

  427. Turvys says:

Firstly I’d like to say a very big thank you for co-ordinating the Give-Away day, and for adding my blog to the list. I’d expected an uplift in visitors, but I received over 1400 on the first day alone, and it doesn’t show many signs of slowing yet! I had an absolute ball with 300 lovely comments – and I think I managed to reply to them all!!! I loved it, and am just waiting for my winner to contact me with address details so I can get her Christmas Parcel out to her in time for Christmas. I had such an amazing response I pulled a further two names out for a little something.

This would be an amazing annual event to co-ordinate, my one suggestion would be to see if there is a way of marking the blogs as to whether they’ll post internationally or not. I was happy to, but not all were – and it was a jolly big list! I found some amazing new blogs – and have already been back to visit lots of them. Thank you again, Cara

  428. catarina says:

    These fabrics are so beautiful!

  429. Lisa says:

I loved giveaway day. Still waiting to find out if I won anything as a few blogs weren’t closing the entries until tonight or later. I would love the chance to win some free fabric from Sew Mama Sew though! Even if I don’t win anything, I stumbled across so many wonderful blogs and added a few tutorials to my ‘To-Do’ List.

  430. Apryl says:

I thought the give away day was great… I didn’t win anything but I did get to visit some fantastic new blogs which I thought was brilliant anyway.

  431. Abbington says:

    Wow – first to post!

I have had a lovely few days browsing various crafty blogs – no wins so far, but I don’t mind at all, as I have lots of inspiration, and a list of new places to shop for items. I was also excited to discover a few new Australian crafty blogs, too.

  432. Holly says:

Giveaway Day was a blast! My Bloglines is bursting with new subscriptions and I must admit I went a little crazy entering giveaways… I hope I can win one!

I did a special digital giveaway where everyone could pick up a pattern so I didn’t get as many comments as other people, but I really wanted to give everyone a chance to get something!

Thank you for hosting this :)

  433. Serena says:

Would you believe I MISSED giveaway day? Yep, I got so caught up in various Christmas gift projects that I didn’t go online for two days, and completely missed giveaway day!

  434. Hannah says:

I had a great time trawling through all the blogs on Giveaway Day, and I found some real gems (although I haven’t won anything – yet). I think it would perhaps be helpful in the future if there was a way of categorising the blogs – for example, I don’t have kids and don’t know anyone who does, so a way of avoiding the baby-centric stuff (beautiful though it was!) might have been handy.

  435. mel says:

I really enjoyed visiting all the different blogs yesterday and was happy to see alot of other Aussie crafters out there as well. I’m pretty sure I didn’t win anything but it was nice to visit places i never knew of, Thank you!

  436. Tabbi says:

How can I describe how amazing that giveaway day was….it was like seeing all the creativeness in the world, literally from all over the world. Paper crafting, jewelry, clothing, bags, art…I was so inspired even my kids were clicking on all the blogs with me just in awe. On my blog I decided to leave it up to enter till Sunday night just for those people who don’t have OCD like me and were not able to get to all the blogs in one day.

I had exponential amount of traffic as a new art blogger (and soon to be filled etsy shop) and I will be participating every year guaranteed not because of the traffic (but it does help) but because it was fun to give away something and fun to read all the comments. In fact I might have to give things away more often just because it was so cathartic–who knew in this age of consumerism that there were so many people appreciating things that were created by hand!

I did not win anything and most likely will not but that is ok perhaps I won some fellow artist support because a lot of them certainly won mine!

The giveaway list was quite a marathon! I was proud of myself for making it through, although I only entered a handful of them. Found some fun new blogs too! Haven’t won anything as far as I know (although I did get a wee thrill up above for a moment until I realised I hadn’t entered into the Portobello Pixie draw) but am looking forward to next year and maybe contributing myself. One suggestion would be to have some way of letting us international people know if the blogger will ship overseas or not, it was pretty disappointing at times to be out of the running so many times.

Had so much fun on give away day finding all these new &exciting blogs, only problem…you guys are so behind us in australia i had to wait all day for you to start dec 3!!

  439. Nani says:

I’m hoping to be a lucky winner soooooon! =)

  440. Malin says:

The give away day was amazing! I found so many new blogs. I bookmarked the post to keep the list of them!
The only think that could have been different.. everyone should have put up their giveaway post at the same time. When I went through the list many weren’t up yet.
Still, such a great project! And so many amazing things that people were giving away! All you people who gave away stuff.. you deserve a prize!

  441. Shelly says:

    Congrats to the winners!

I’ve never won anything online but I’ll keep trying!

  442. Junglewife says:

I haven’t won anything (yet!) but I found some cool new blogs (QuiltDad!!!) and love all the great ideas!
I think one idea to make it better would be to set up a Mr. Linky or something similar where people can enter their own blog names and links, because this would enable people to link directly to their giveaway post rather than just the homepage of their blog. Also, they could put a short description of what they are giving away. Just an idea!!!

  443. Trinity says:

Well, I found out about this too late to enter (I’m a somewhat new reader here), but I thoroughly enjoyed reading so many wonderful blogs all day! I added a few to my blogroll and many to my Etsy favorites! I don’t think I won anything, but there’s still hope for the contests ending today. ;)

Of course, whether I won or not, it was wonderful to see so many kind deeds done during this beautiful season. And if you do this again next year, I KNOW I already want to be a part of it!

    Thanks!!!

  444. Joan says:

I can’t thank you enough for hosting the Dec. 3rd Give-Away Day. It was SO much fun watching all the entries come in from all over! I enjoyed reading each and every entry. So many people said so many nice things about how they enjoyed what they needed to do to entry my give-away! I just love the internet…because it is extremely fantastic connecting with others who share similar joys! Thank you again so much for such a fantastic experience. I have the “Give-Away” bug. I will be having more give-aways for the simply fact that I love reading those entries! Plus, I can’t wait to visit the others who participated to see what I can add to my Christmas Shopping List! Have a great day.

Thank you so much for hosting such a lovely and fun give-way day. I had so much fun!!!!

  446. I hosted a Give-Away this week; it’s actually still open. I have had an astounding amount of comments, and new visitors. I so enjoyed having new emails in my inbox every time I checked (which was often). Excitement!!! I hope some of them come back again – but I also now have about 200 new blogs to go and check out.
The give away day was excellent. A great idea. I’m not sure if it could be improved upon – maybe if everyone kept their give-aways opened a bit longer, as I still haven’t managed to get around to visit everyone. Oh, well. The new visitors was prize enough for me!
As usual, SMS is helping us stay-at-home-mums network, make new friends, find new inspiration, and (as a lot of my commentors seemed to be doing) find some escape from work or children!
    Thank you.

  447. SarahB says:

I know I didn’t make it through all the blogs participating, but I found so many new blogs to add to my reader! So many great creations out there and such generosity!

  448. Oh my GOODNESS, giveaway day was so much fun for me! Not only did I get to visit many blogs I’d never seen before (and now love!), but I also had a record number of visitors to my own little webby corner. They entered and commented and made me feel so warm and fuzzy…and all without photos of what they’d win! :)

THANK YOU, Sew Mama Sew, for this giveaway idea. I needed all that encouragement; it was such good timing for me.

p.s. It’s still ongoing until Friday midnight, and I finally have photos posted!

  449. Joanna says:

Giveaway day was great! I got to see alot of great new-to-me blogs.

  451. Anna says:

I found a couple of new blogs on Give Away Day that I think I’ll enjoy following. I tried winning two items but didn’t have any luck… Maybe this time?

  452. Christina says:

My google reader was swamped with bloggers participating in the Give Away Day. It was amazing just how many people participated. It made me wish I had my act together and could give away, too. There were some great blogs to be found! While I didn’t win anything, I am in envy of those that did.

  453. Kimberly says:

I think give-away day should be called give-away week! There were so many generous people giving away such great goodies that it was hard to visit them all! I was so excited when I saw a few of my favorite bloggers on the list and headed straight to their sites to sign up. :) I have already received e-mails from 1/2 dozen or so bloggers whose pages I signed, I don’t know how they are managing to thank everyone for visiting their sites. Not only are they giving away free stuff, they are thanking me for wanting it?!? There are super nice people in crafty blog-land and I am so happy to have met some new friends.
I have to say that my husband is glad that I have made it through the list and will not be hogging the computer for 5 straight hours again anytime soon! (I was up until 2:30 am last night!) So far I haven’t won anything, but even if I don’t, I enjoyed myself.
Thank you so much for all of the effort on your part for organizing such a fun day.

  454. Liz says:

here’s what i did on giveaway day: worked on my new house! i wanted badly to look for free stuff online, but since i had nothing to give away in return, i felt to guilty to go trolling among the wonders you all made! i can’t wait till the major house repairs are completed and i can look through all the fun projects again, and make them!!!!!

  455. Kristin says:

I won a set of blocks for my boys! That’s the first time I’ve ever won anything for my kids. They are going to be so excited! :)

  456. Jacqui says:

Oh my, I’ve never won anything, Thank-you, Thank-you, Thank-you so much.
I absolutely love sew, mama, sew!!!
I can’t wait to try these gorgeous Portabellopixie patterns.
    I’m so excited!!!!

  457. Bea Gibson says:

Give-away day was so much fun. Moda-Home-Mom made the day for me. I kept going back to read all the comments, all of them were so funny! I added 10 blogs to my favorites list and am still enjoying reading old posts on all of them. This was great. Thanks to all who were so generous to give so many nice gifts away.

  458. Lois in Kansas says:

I have to say that I stayed up Waaaayyyy late…having alot of fun.
I found lots of new sites.
I have 2 craft projects to start, and I liked how people were making stuff with what they had on hand.
Not getting a lot of Fresh supplies.
    Very frugal and inspiring stuff.
Thanks for such a fun event.

  459. becky says:

  462. Josiane says:

It took me two days to go through the list of blogs participating in the Give-Away Day! I don’t know if I’ve won anything yet, besides a good deal of inspiration: I’ve seen a lot of creativity and cute stuff! Thanks for putting up and coordinating that event, it was a fun idea!

  463. Michele says:

I wish that I would have participated in giving something away this year…hopefully there is next year! It was so neat to see all of the crafty things that were made, but the best part was all of the new blogs that I have found to follow. So much inspiration.

  464. Lindsey says:

I came across some really awesome blogs! Thanks again.

  465. Sarah Lemmon says:

I got very inspired by seeing everyone’s giveaways and projects. Great thinking on putting that together!
