  2. V and Co says:

i know this was a while ago but i made a tutorial for a skirt made out of a table cloth.

  3. anne walker says:

I would also love to make some skirts, but being a lady that’s in the overweight range with thick knees (genetic – doesn’t matter how thin we are) and big boned ankles, I’d like to make a comfortable longer skirt with an elastic waist band. I was thinking shin length or a little longer. I’ve done some google searches but am coming up dry. This will be my first clothing project in 38 years since home-ec!

    thanks for any pointers,

  4. Beth Mort says:

  5. Bridgett says:

  30. Anne-Marie says:

This is so cool! I would love to sew more for myself and for my kids. My 6 yo is so hard to fit because she is tall enough to wear a size 8, but skinny enough to wear a 4/5 at the waist. And they just don’t make “princess” dresses…long skirts that she loves to create from whatever she can find.

I have been to all of the websites you listed to see these projects and I am ready to dive in again to sewing.

    Two questions:
#1 How can I learn to sew straighter hems? Any tips, tricks?
#2 Wear can I purchase large tube knit? (it’s so easy to make skirts from that, but I can’t find it anywhere and no one at the fabric shops seem to know what I am talking about.)

As a kid I hated wearing skirts and dresses. I was a tomboy from the tips of my toes to the top of my head. My mom would try to bribe me to wear them for special occasions. One year for Lent instead of giving up something I promised to wear a skirt *to school* once a week. I don’t think my mom believed I would do it, but I did. And went right back to my jeans after Lent.

Now I love wearing and making skirts. They are just so easy to throw on and go. I have plans to make the Petticoat (love the floaty aspect) and I like my skirts fast and cheap (because I do, too).

Thanks so much for more tutorials. Happy weekend! =]

Cute skirts! I have the book “Sew What? Skirts” and it is a great resource for learning how to draft your own skirt patterns.
