    What a great, unexpensive way to frame anything. Who doesn’t have hoops around that are not being used. When you need it, take the art out, use it, and put it back when you’re done.

  19. I am so excited by this month of hand sewing! I’ll be back every day. Crazy as it sounds, I’ll often pull out needle and thread rather than the sewing machine if I can. It’s so much quieter.

    I’ve got a bit of wall art like this up in my bedroom – my 11 yo daughter did this funky thing with embroidered rectangles within a plaid and I couldn’t bear to take it out of its hoop.

    When I saw it was hand sewing month my first thought was “ick” I hate to hand sew, but I was wrong. Completely wrong. I never thought of stuff like this as hand sewing. I have been thinking of trying embroidery and these little cuties may just get me going.

    I had being thinking of starting to embroider lately, even went out and bought two new hoops., so this post seems very timely and appropriate. I also have a friend that just moved into a new house and that moustache loop would be perfect for her, what a perfect little housewarming gift!

    I did something similar in my office but I just used some fat quarters of Anna Maria Horner’s Garden Party fabrics. It turned out great and makes lovely, inexpensive art.

    Everything old is new again! It is fun to see something that I used to do in the 1970’s surfacing in a fresh way. We did lots of “folded stars” displayed in heavy embroidery hoops back then. Anyone else remember?

    Those are so cool. I love wall art… have embroidered several myself to give as gifts, however, my walls are still bare… go figure. I’ve made about 18 pairs of socks and 5 sweaters too… and still wear ratty store-bought ones myself.

    I have just recently begun embroidering-doll faces, and other small things, and I find it very relaxing. My husband has some medical tests this week, so along with a book, I’m putting some embroidery into my tote bag for the waiting room.

    I love it! I hope that you are going to explain about embroidery some this month! I would love to do it, but I don’t have the patience or time to sift through all of the material online about the different stitches, and our library does not have any comprehensive books about it.
