From Beth: Visit Margie’s resurrection fern blog and you immediately sense her deep connection to nature and her love of creating things. Every visit is a treat; every visit can help you look at your own surroundings in a new way. Margie’s up next with a beautiful, nature-inspired sewing by hand project for us all.

Margie Oomen, a rural physician and textile artist, has been a gatherer and maker of things for as far back as she can remember. Aside from a spinning and printmaking class, she is completely self-taught. She draws her inspiration from her treasure-hunting family, especially her father (a mathematician and electrical engineer), her scientific (biochemistry and synthetic organic chemistry) and medical backgrounds, and her great respect and love of the natural world. Her first art shows were in 2009 at PS122 Gallery, New York as part of the Yarn Theory Show and at bookhou, Toronto as part of a group photography exhibit. Her work has been featured in Country Living Magazine, Design*Sponge, Apartment Therapy, Elle Décor SA,, ReadyMade Blog, Whip Up, Blog, Softies Central, and Plush You. Her work can be found at resurrection fern, knitalatte and on Flickr. She lives in southern Ontario with her husband, four children, three cats, and a snail named fern.
