When we started planning for our month of Hand Sewing we knew we had to ask Alicia from Posie Gets Cozy for help with a project. Alicia’s new book comes out next summer; it incorporate cross-stitch, crewel and floss embroidery in a collection of 30 projects. Our copies of Stitched in Time are already well-loved from use so we’re certainly looking forward to this next book!

You can download your free Queen Anne’s Lace Pillowcase PDF for instructions today. Alicia designed today’s pillowcase project to go with her new Ollalieberry Ice Cream Quilt. The simple pattern uses three stitches (stem stitch, satin stitch & french knot). If you’re new to these stitches we love the Sublime Stitching Now-I-Get-It Stitching Diagrams as an easy-to-follow resource. Enjoy!

As I have been looking at the late summer flowers here in New England, I was thinking of stitching a Queen Anne’s Lace and Common Tansy. But being new to hand stitching, I felt intimidated to try it. This is perfect! Thank you!

That is so beautiful! I’m really getting the hand stitching bug this month. I havent’ managed to put together something to do yet but it’s definately getting higher and higher on my to-do list! Thanks for the great link with stitching how tos. I’ve been stitching for many many many years but I am self taught and am probably doing it all wrong anyway so it’s nice to get a refresher course from time to time. 😉

    Thats so beautiful!

  226. Kelli says:

Queen Anne’s Lace always makes me think of my Grandma and how we used to pick it and press it in big books each summer so we’d have “pretty lace” to look at the next summer. I think I will make these and put them in my guest bedroom. It’s where I keep a lot of family-made items like the quilt my great-grandmother gave us as a wedding anniversary gift and the table that my hubby’s father made. I think it would add a nice touch…thanks again!!!!

  227. Linda says:

Love queen anne’s lace…this is very pretty.

  228. MamaBee says:

Ooh, lovely! This might be the inspiration I need…

  229. Pam says:

Oooh… I’m totally making these for my aunt for Christmas this year! Thanks for sharing!
