Sewn by Claudia, Aux Petits Oiseaux

Claudia’s dress looks perfect for summer! Isn’t it wonderful? We love the buckle she made and added too… Claudia included some pattern details for you:

Pattern: Burda 7517 (view A)

Material: Lightweight cotton

Pattern Alteration Note: I fell in love with this pattern because it has a nice little vintage style… Not too much, just enough! I didn’t make any alterations to the pattern. However, without a belt or a ribbon, I personally found that there was something missing! So, I took some grosgrain ribbon and a vintage “mother of pearl” buckle, made a belt and sewed it to the back of the dress.

Fabric Note: I recommend lightweight cotton or linen. I think that it would also look beautiful in lightweight dark denim (a personal favorite). Since the dress is, according to the pattern, not double, make sure that your fabric is not see-through. Have a nice summer!

Material: A heavy cotton fabric with the weave and texture of burlap.

    @ all of you!

Thank you so much for all the beautiful comments!!!
You made my week, no, my month πŸ™‚

For your info, the dress is VERY simple to make. The zipper is the most difficult part. And if you don’t make it with stripes / plaid fabric it is even more simple!

I got the pattern a few weeks ago. Sadly, it is not on the Burda web site anymore but it is still available in fabric/pattern stores. If you want to make to you should get the pattern soon!

The dress is comfortable. I made it as an office dress but I realized that it looks good with white flip flops or white fabric Keds for a very weekend style!

    Thank you again
