Sewn by Cecilia, chucha in wien

Cecelia gives us inspiration to just go for it and draft a few of our own patterns!

Pattern: Self-drafted pattern

Pattern Process:I just did it without planning… Just had a pattern for the back, which I took from a vintage coat (from my mum) and the rest (neck, button, front, arms) was quite spontaneous. I just knew I wanted it to be the shape, that I wanted it to be asymmetric, and then I added the rest.

Really nice coat! Just wish I could sew something like this, but for the time being i didn’t go any further than T-shirt refashion. That will change soon, though, cause I am bravely going to try a dress for a wedding!

That is so very cute! Great job!

  46. Kelli says:

My self-drafts end up in the trash or being scaled down for my daughter…case in point–the top I made for myself yesterday that ended up too short, but I cut a shorter piece of elastic for the top and it’s perfect on my 6-yr-old. I am in awe of those that can make their own patterns and have it turn out!

  47. LFinn says:

Such a pretty coat. I love its vintage flair. ~Kelly

  53. Amy says:

I wish I had the talent to self-draft patterns. I tend to try and then just hate what I have made and leave it in the “to be never finished, but can’t throw it away” pile. One day maybe I will get the hang of it.

  54. 4vs1 says:

So cute! I look forward to learning more and more about sewing so that one day I can design my own clothes too! Great creativity!
