Coleen’s up next with a pattern review for the Verona Bag from Art Gallery Quilts. She thinks it would make a great laptop carrier! You might remember Coleen’s sewing from our recent feature of one of Coleen’s great dresses in our Make It, Wear It! photo inspiration series. Enjoy Coleen’s introduction below and take a peek at her great photography, then look for Coleen’s review a little later this morning…

From Coleen: My name is Coleen I work from home as a freelance photographer ( and anytime I can squeeze it in I’m a crafter. I am the mother to two little girls (gremlins), Ava Jane and Violet. They rule the roost and most of the time my sewing projects, which they always assume are for them. (To their credit, 9 times out of 10 it is for one of them.)

I started sewing about a year and a half ago when I made that big transition from a corporate 9-5 job to working from home and staying with my kids all day. I felt the need to create something on a weekly basis that would push me to be more creative and did not revolve solely around changing diapers or scrubbing half chewed goldfish from the carpet. I was lucky enough to have my husband’s talented Aunt Jannet around to guide me through the beginning uneasiness of cutting into all of the pretty fabric I had been hoarding like a squirrel.

The long term sewing goal is to reupholster a wingback chair. I am still not up for it, but some day I will demolish one and figure it out.
