Sascha Romeo from Piccoli Piselli is a thoughtful, creative designer and busy mama to three lucky children. She sews up a storm and shares it all on her blog with humor and grace. Sascha generously shares this brilliant Pea Pod Hip Carrier tutorial and pattern today, and she’s also offering a chance to win one of TWO Pea Pod Hip Carriers at Piccoli Piselli. The carriers you see on the pattern cover are in Sascha’s giveaway. One of the carriers matches a tutorial for a safety harness/shopping cart seatbelt pattern also offered on Sascha’s site today. Don’t miss it!

Sascha Romeo from Piccoli Piselli designed this baby carrier to be worn on the hip. The adjustable two buckle closure allows for easy on and off, and it carries babies from approximately 5 months (or when baby can hold head upright with good neck control) up to 35 pounds. This carrier will quickly become your “go to” carrier for quick trips into stores. It takes less than one minute to put on and carry baby… Considerably less time than most front/back baby carriers. The wide shoulder strap is meant to be worn on the ball of your shoulder taking the strain off your neck. The child’s weight is distributed evenly and this carrier can be worn with great comfort leaving your hands free.

Love it and this would be perfect for my baby which is due any time now!!
I can’t wait to try the hip carrier. It’s exactly what I’ve been needing lately.
Absolutely amazing–pea pod carrier: MUST MAKE! Chenille baby set: MUST HAVE!
I must make that pea pod hip carrier. Too bad my baby is 9.
I would love to win the carrier, but if not, I’m going to enjoy the challenge of making it, thank you so much Sascha for the tutorial!
Wow! I am impressed with the carrier and interested to see if I can win! Thanks for sharing
Woohoo! This is so awesome. Great for gifts, great for myself. Cute. Functional. A big THANKS to you for sharing it!
Oh my. That’s gorgeous!
Love it!
The tutorial pdf link says it is corrupted and not able to be fixed. I can’t download it. I really want this. Please help. Thanks!
What a great set! I’d love this for a dear friend expecting twins.

WHat a beautiful gift set – perfect for my future grandchild!
Great tutorial, too bad my kids are too big now.
I love them! Thanks for the tutorial.
THANK YOU!!! THANK YOU!!! THANK YOU!!! I have a six month old that is getting bigger and bigger and is so hard to carry around in the carseat and too big for the front pack carrier. I was just wondering today how I was going to carry him (and keep up with the 2 year old) when we are running errands when he grew out of the carseat (fast approaching). Then I saw this!!! This is perfect. Thank you for generously sharing the pattern and instructions.
Love the Chenille Baby Gift Set! We’re expecting our second and won’t find out the gender so this would be perfect!
So cute! Thanks!
That gift set is so beautiful! I hope I win!
I love this!
Lovely color!
My twin grandbabies are becoming harder to carry. They were preemies, and we are so grateful they have grown big and strong. This carrier would be a big help.
This pattern is exactly what I’ve been looking for! My little guy is a chunk and was too heavy for his carrier months ago. That scooter print is killing me. Adorable!
Oh, that would be a great gift for my niece! The baby is due Nov. 10th.
oooooh! This is so cute! Thanks for the tutorial!
Thanks for the great tutorial! It will get some good use!
I love all those prints! I love orange!
The pirate stuff is fabulous!
Adorable carrier.
Thank you so much for such a great tutorial!
Practical directions are good.
Hope it is not too late to enter! I have 5 friends/family members that are due in the next 6 months! Don’t know if I can get presents made for all before the babies arrive! Will bookmark the tutorial under future projects!
Looks great – I LOVE the fabric.
What an adorable carrier!
oh my! This looks so cute!
I love the fabric for the ‘Chenille Baby Gift Set’.
Love the fabric! I also love that it is so quick to put on and take off. That is my gripe with the carrier I am using now.
This makes me excited to be expecting again.
I love those yellow/orange fabrics. I made throw pillows out of that collection!
What a great carrier!
I’ve been wanting to try something like this out. Thanks for the tutorial and pattern.
Makes want to have another baby to fit into one of these! But that doesn’t mean I can’t make for someone, anyone who has a baby. Thanks for the really generous tute!
Love the hip carrier pattern! I can’t wait to make it.
And the choice of material used in that beautiful giftset is so refreshing.
Thanks for sharing!
Love the carrier — especially the scooter fabric!
wonderful.
I love the look of these carriers – they look so much more comfortable than the front/back carriers! Super cute fabric choices too!
I love the fabrics! Very nice and bright colors.
What a neat pattern, would make a great shower gift.
Ooh, I bet my sister would like that carrier. Thanks!
This would be a wonderful giveaway for the WIC moms I work with! We are always trying to make them feel like great moms and pamper themselves a little.

That looks different than all the other/usual carriers – how neat!
The carrier is great and what a super gift it would make–esp. for first time moms! Thanks!
Really cool carrier – I love trying all sorts of new ones!
What a cute hip carrier! With 4 (5?) babies coming to friends in the next few months, I see I’ll be quite busy with these.
I love those colors in the gift set! And I’m seriously interested to see if that hip carrier could work for my crazy mover.
So darn cute!

I would love one of these, the idea is fantastic!
Such a great idea for a carrier! My daughter has a blanket from The Red Pistachio and she carries it around with her all the time!
Get pattern – can’t wait to make some for the new mom’s in my life! : )
Holy heck, this is awesome. My toddler has hit a must-be-held stage, and it’s killing my arms and back. This will make both of us happy!
I love the idea of personalizing a baby carrier with my own fabric selection!
I love this!
i love the fabric she used!
i love the colors and the chenille!
Oh, I can’t wait to make this carrier. My 5 month old doesn’t like to be carried in a sling, but I think she will like this because it let her move her arms.
Also, love that yellow. So bright and cheerful!
This looks like a fun carrier. I usually prefer a ring sling, but this looks great. Thanks for the giveaway.
I agree with Jessica- you guys really know how to throw a fabulous baby shower!
Awesome pattern…my littlest might almost be too big, but I’d be tempted to try it anyway! A great gift this would make for others too!
I made myself something similar and it’s been my go-to carrier. Thanks for the tute!
What a great tutorial! I just wish I had the time to make it. Maybe after Christmas.
Love the hip carrier. I always preferred to carry my little one on my hip rather than strapped to my front or back.
Love it!
How clever! Thanks for offering it.

i think i know at least a half dozen people who are pregnant RIGHT NOW, and at least another dozen that are trying or have just had one (or two!), this series is FANTASTIC!
As my 6 month old son is getting bigger this hip carrier would be great!

I love baby carriers! Ooo, and that pistachio giveaway is to die for! Gorgeous!
awesome baby carrier! Thank you so much!
Wow, how generous is Sascha to offer this pattern to us for free!!! When I was making baby carriers (a few years ago) there were only a couple vague descriptions on how to make slings available online for free. Nothing that was as well written and designed as this. Thank you so much for your generous sharing.
Love the idea of a carrier made for carrying baby on the hip rather than front/back. Very cool!
I want one of those! 8D
This is sooo lovely. Would love it for my sister who is due and January and they haven’t found out what they are having : )
