Introducing ~ Jenny

From Beth: Today we’re happy to welcome Jenny from the WildCards to the blog, author of ReSew: Turn Thrift-Store Finds into Fabulous Designs. Jenny shares a project from the book next, but first you can enjoy her introduction and explore the links!

From Jenny: Hi, I’m Jenny. And I love to sew! I’ve been sewing since high school. Back then I would make wacky, eccentric clothes, and then make my friends wear them to school. I also love thrifting. My first thrift-store purchase was a couch in college—which I later figured out would not fit through the front door of my apartment. Rats. (I’ve gotten much better at thrifting since then.) I put my two passions together to come up with my new book, ReSew: Turn Thrift-Store Finds into Fabulous Designs. You can view a fun little video about the book here.

What’s most important in my life is being a mom. I’m sharing my “Elephant Cuddle Cushion” project from ReSew today, which was inspired by my two wonderfully crazy and funny little boys, Jack (6) and Charlie (2). I write about their antics at my blog, the WildCards. A favorite category is Jackspeak, where I’ve cataloged some of the hilarious things Jack has said over the years. And now that Charlie is two years old, Charlietalk is gaining steam. I sure hope you enjoy the project!

Thank you so much to Kristin and Beth at Sew,Mama,Sew! for letting me show my stuff to your readers. Your site is a daily inspiration to me and I am grateful for all of the thought and creativity you put into it.

Now everyone go have a great day today, and remember— Make time to sew!

  8. WOW! Thank you so much for the welcome! I was so thrilled to get the chance to show my stuff at Sew, Mama, Sew!, although you can bet I had butterflies about it. But reading all of these comments makes me feel right at home. It makes me want to gather you all up together and head out to a dive-y restaurant for pie and fries!

And Amy, about the short hair… you crack me up. I held on to longer locks for my husband after we were married. Then one day, after getting my new-mama bootstraps under me, I got fed up with it, chopped it all off, and never looked back. I told my husband, “Short is the new long.” That’s my story and I’m STILL sticking to it. :)

I’m excited to find your blog and will have to get my hands on that book. I LIKE to fix up thrifted stuff but…BUT, I don’t have the vision to do it on my own. I just see junk when I go to the thrift stores. But if I have seen what someone else did with a yellow candlestick and a red platter, and an old birdcage and a way too small wool blazer then I figure I can give it a try too!

  11. This is sure to make me look at things differently when going into a thrift store.
