From Beth: We love what Melanie is doing with A Sewing Journal! She has a great eye and a knack for highlighting beautiful, awe-inspiring sewing projects and fabrics. We asked Melanie to share a little about what she notices right now with sewing trends, and her post is coming up next. Enjoy Melanie’s introduction, and be sure to browse through her various online “homes.”

Hi, I’m Melanie! I am the mother of three lovely and energetic girls enjoying ourselves in the upper Midwest of the United States. I love to sew and see what everyone else is sewing! My interest in sewing came about one day when I happened upon a Kaffe Fassett quilt book at the library. I was stunned– I never knew quilts could look like that. Not too long afterward I discovered the world of craft blogging and realized I, too, could sew beautiful things.

Other than my early craft and family blog, I was the original voice of The Fabric Shopper (now voiced by the lovely Rosie Nevius). I went on to own Modern Organic Fabrics, which I recently shut down (still selling off some inventory, though!). I now write A Sewing Journal, a blog about all the sewing and fabric loveliness that I find on the web. I love blogging as much as I love to sew and am so happy to be back at it full time. I feel so very blessed to be filling my days with what I love to do! I also love to chit-chat, so you if you do too, please join me on Twitter. You can find me on Facebook, too.
