From Beth: We’ve had our eyes on Candy’s work for years, probably from the first time she stopped by Sew,Mama,Sew! and left a comment. Candy dyes her own fabric, creates beautiful works of art with her fabrics and she shares it all at Candied Fabrics. We have a new line of Organic PFD (prepared-for-dyeing) Cotton Solids in the shop, and we asked Candy to help us share a bit about the dyeing process later this month. You won’t want to miss it! She’s up later today with her series of organic fabric tests, but first be sure to check out her introduction.

From Candy: Hi there, my name is Candy and I’m addicted to color! I dye fabric so I can have just the hue and texture I want-– I make “Candied Fabrics!” I’ve been a quilter since I was a teenager, and have slowly evolved from making traditional quilts to art quilts. The last couple of years I’ve been experimenting with creating 3D art, mostly houses, because both the shape of a house and the idea of home fill me with excitement.

Along with raising two boys and teaching Biology at the University of Redlands, I show and sell my art at local art/craft fairs in Southern California. This venture has led me to develop a line of “everyday art”: bags to carry, silk scarves to wear, a journal for doodles or scribbles– these are all opportunities to create an item that brings joy to the senses of sight and touch.

I am an avid blogger and this led to me having been published in several Interweave publications as well as appearing in Quilting Arts TV Season 7.

I’d love to have you stop by my online home: CandiedFabrics.com, “tweet” me on Twitter, or “like” my Facebook page.
