This giveaway is now closed. Thank you!

Today we’re pleased to offer a giveaway of the new children’s picture book, Chamelia. One lucky winner will receive a copy of the book, plus a Chamelia paper doll kit. Author and illustrator Ethan Long worked with Alexander Henry Fabrics to use their prints for Chamelia’s wardrobe, and the result is cheery, fun illustrations on every page.

From the publisher: Like most chameleons, Chamelia is constantly changing her look. But instead of blending in, Chamelia prefers to stand out. She’s committed to her bold, fashion forward outfits – accented by fabric collage elements – despite the disparaging looks they inspire from her classmates. But when outrageous ensembles keep Chamelia from participating in her favorite activities, what’s a chameleon to do? Find a new way to shine, of course! Chamelia ultimately learns that it’s not her clothes that make her a star; it’s her sparkling personality. The irresistible mix of Long’s whimsical illustrations and a rainbow of eye-popping fabric collage gives life to this story of a young chameleon discovering the best way to be herself, and is a delightful read for design-loving parents to share with their little ones.

Comment today for your chance to win a copy of Chamelia with a special Chamelia paper doll kit! Just for fun, tell us what makes you shine… (What are you good at? What makes your day? What do you aspire to? How are you outrageous?)

One of the logs rotted, so my husband pulled it out and tossed in in the alley(!!!). There was a big, deep whole in place of the stump. I had assumed (yes, I know the saying) that he filled the hole. I went out to mow the lawn this morning and saw the eyes & hat of the garden gnome sticking out of the hole. Did he fill the hole with dirt, like any sane person would?? And now I’m enjoying sharing the world of books and reading with my daughter. I love seeing her excitement as the printed word begins to make sense.

Thanks for sharing a new book idea for us!

  151. Allison Gougeon says:

What a cute book! I am VERY organized! Good and bad! Allison

  152. Tabitha O. says:

I am good at trivial pursuit, talking and coloring.
Colors and stopping to check out the scenery make my day.
I aspire to be an adult some day (lol)
I am usually not that outrageous although sometimes bold!
LOL cute kids book what a great collaboration!

  153. Kathleen says:

What makes me shine? I use a little “mommy magic” whenever I can to make the ordinary extra-ordinary. I also like to encourage others to be creative and unique, especially the girls I work with in scouts. “there are no mistakes, only opportunities for individuality”!

  154. leisel says:

    so darling! thank you

  155. Kim says:

This book looks so cute! My 5 year old daughter would love it! Plus paper dolls? OMG she would be in heaven! My daughter is what makes my day, every day she picks out her own clothes and comes up with outrageous outfits (think Hello Kitty shirt, tutu skirt, knee-high argyle socks and cowboy boots). I would never in a million years pick any of it out, but somehow it all comes together on my cute little 5 year old pixie! I have a bunch of pictures that I have taken of her to put together in a photo book, it always brings a smile to my face to see her crazy outfits and I love how confident she is to wear whatever she wants!

  156. angie says:

wow, this sounds great! What makes me shine???hmmmmm…maybe perhaps that I love to try new things and am pretty sure every time I see something no matter what the media I think “I can make that”.

  157. Jen says:

I love being a mom and learning how to sew new things. When I make something correctly, I get so giddy, especially if it is for one of my sweet boys.

  158. Becca says:

Looks like a great book! What I’m good at is- creativity and detail. I love working on small, nitty gritty detail kinds of creative endeavors. I find it fun, meditative, challenging. And some times those projects drive me insane. But I’m learning to push through and finish what I start.

    Thanks for the giveaway!

  159. Aimee says:

I love children’s books! There’s something so neat about reading an exciting book to your little ones. This one looks great!

  160. Ashley Brown says:

Despite everyday foibles, and slip-ups in parenting, I feel like the luckiest person in the world when I’m spending time with my daughter (usually crafting) and I hear her crack up in laughter and say, “You are the best Mommy in the world for me.” It makes me sure that perfection isn’t necessary, and that having a good time together doing creative things can foster a fabulously fun relationship. She is truly a joy to me, and I hope I can continue to find ways we can laugh and create together as time goes by and she grows from a spunky and outgoing little girl, into an engaging and innovative woman.

  161. Looks like a fun happy looking book!

There is a quote by Abraham Lincoln, “Whatever you are, be a good one.” I try to live by this and aspire to excel in everything that I do. Everyone wears many hats and plays many roles. I am a girlfriend, sister, daughter, employee, friend, sewer, attorney, etc. I try and aspire to be good in all that I do because I know that my “role” means something to each person in my life. I want those people to know how much I care about and for them.

  162. Camille says:

I love making fun and silly things for the girls in my life! The Knitopus (knitted octopus) was huge hit! I think Chamelia paper dolls would be right up their alley.

  163. Nichole says:

My kids make me shine, and they would love to read this book with me! Thanks for the chance to win.

  164. Gayle says:

What makes me shine is I don’t let the little stuff get me down. I work very hard to roll with the punches and they can be many but I’ll just make some art and feel better after thant. It’s all good, really. So I’d love to win the book but if I don’t it’s all good. Some one else must have needed it more.

  165. Heather L says:

Oops…forgot to finish reading about what to comment! I think I am good at making other people happy…I hope to be good at that anyway! (not in a way that’s detrimental to my own happines, just being a good friend etc.) And coffee(and maybe my two daughters) makes my day. =)

  166. *kate says:

This looks like such a fun book. I think my daughter (and I) could play with these for hours.

So cute! I would love reading that book to my girls.

  170. Siew says:

What makes my day lately is coming home from an exhausting day at work and being greeted by four fluffy felines and my little girls non-stop action. It can be even more exhausting but her love of life makes me remember to put all the clutter in my brain away and enjoy the moment.

  171. Seanna Lea says:

  175. Linda says:

I think my quilts make me shine. Not that they are anything special to the world, but I think they are special to my family and close friends since I am the only one who actively quilts. My grandkids (who all have a quilt from me!) make my day. They would love to read this book! Thanks for the giveaway!

My children’s spontaneous laughter makes me happy, I do many outrageous things to gain that laughter!

  183. Sally Smith says:

My granddaughter would love to have this!!

  184. Paulina says:

I think I’m quite good at embroidery and hand stitching. Though when I sat down to the sewing machine I realized this is also a lot of fun and hopefully I’ll also shine and glitter with my quilting. For now, I’m learning a lot. Cheers!

  185. Carrie says:

I think what makes me shine is knitting. I hope to one day figure out how to write my own patterns.

  186. Isabella says:

Waking up to my daughters smile makes my day. Being a good mom and taking care of myself makes me shine!

I don’t own a single pair of store-bought socks – I knit all of mine in bright colours and fun patterns, and wear them year round. My co-workers sneek peeks at my ankles during meetings when they think I’m not looking πŸ˜›

Today I’m wearing Cookie A’s Theolonius socks ( Rav Link) in a gorgeous crimson merino.

  199. nikkapotamus says:

  220. Maribel Finnin says:

sounds like the ideal book for young children!

  233. Wendryn says:

What makes my day? Today, it was a AAA baseball game, at which we saw a guy with a great mustache (twirled at the ends!), a rubber chicken which got beer poured on it (by accident) and then pitched at us by people we didn’t know (completely not an accident!), a good game (even if our team lost), and an absolutely adorable toddler wearing a sweatshirt with an airplane on it and little wings on the head.
