Giveaway ~ Organic Bags + Fabric

on August 10 | in Contests & Giveaways | by | with 33 Comments

Teresa Van Hatten, the Green Bag Lady, is a big part of our Giveaway Days; every Giveaway Day she gives away 100 bags and 100 kits to make your own bag! Teresa’s been giving bags away for many years, and she inspires others to do the same. People in the United States use 100 billion single-use plastic grocery bags every year, and Teresa works to change that on a daily basis.

This year Teresa has an Organic ’11 series on her Green Bag Lady blog. She’s raising awareness about the beauty and environmental benefits of organic fabrics through giveaways and more. We’re giving away two $20 gift certificates to Sew,Mama,Sew! on the Green Bag Lady blog so you can pick out some beautiful organic fabric. (Here’s a recent post all about Organic + Sustainable fabrics.) Teresa is also giving away ten organic cotton bags, one of which is BAG #17,000! Teresa’s up to giving away 17,000 bags! Amazing.

I love organic fabric, and am so glad to see it becoming more widely available. I love my cotton bags, so much prettier than plastic as well as being reusable. If you use organic cotton, you can often compost them at the end of their lives too, no waste!
