Color Blocks Placemats + Napkins: Part Two

Last week, we talked about selecting and cutting the fabric. Your assignment this week will be to sew your napkins.

Each napkin is made by piecing a simple patchwork block, sewing it to a bold solid fabric back, and topstitching around the edges. Simple!

    This is my second quilting project! I have everything cut and am staring the napkins tonight! I was able to cut all peices from 2 fat quarters of each patchwork fabric instead of a continuous half yard.
    These will be a wedding gift for my cousin. Thanks so much!

    Now I have a quandary. I only have limited amount of my feature fabric and not the right color for the center of the napkin. Hmm what shall I do. Make a color block napkin or go buy some new fabric.

    I need to prewash my fabric, then get started cutting. Here’s to finding more time later this week.

  12. I’m not really doing the sew-a-longs, sorry, so much going on already, but I do believe I will print these off. We don’t use napkins in our house because the paper ones are just so yuck so these might encourage me to make some real napkins! Yay! Less mess!

    I love this idea! Thanks for the tutorial. It looks so simple to adjust for all seasons or to complement one’s color pallet at home. I’m planning on making some as an anniversary gift for my brother and sis in law.
