AccuQuilt GO! Baby Giveaway

on January 17 | in Contests & Giveaways | by | with 1,261 Comments

We loved the pretty Peacock Lane Snowflake Petal Pillows tutorial from Violet Craft. Like many quilters and sewists, Violet used an AccuQuilt GO! Baby Fabric Cutter to create her appliqué shapes. Now you have a chance to win one of these great little cutters of your own!

From the AccuQuilt website: The AccuQuilt GO! Baby Fabric Cutter is a fast, precise, affordable fabric cutter that allows quilters and fabric crafters to cut fabric as much as 90% faster than scissors or rotary cutting. Perfect for the beginner and occasional quilter.

Learn more about the AccuQuilt GO! Baby Fabric Cutter and see project ideas on the AccuQuilt website. Tell us what you’re sewing this January or what you want to sew (we love to see links!). Your comment on today’s post enters you to win an AccuQuilt GO! Baby Fabric Cutter plus three dies. We’ll keep comments open through Friday, January 20th. Good luck!

Great giveaway! I’ve been working on some hand stitched wool felt dolls, a la Mimi Kirchner’s free pattern at PurlBee: http://www.purlbee.com/hand-sewn-felt-dolls/2009/4/8/mimi-kirchners-hand-sewn-felt-doll.html

I have been eyeing the AccuQuilt Go! because my biggest barrier to the projects I want to do is cutting out multiples of the same shape from fabric. For example, one of the dolls I’m working on really needs a fabulous bird-disguise coat made of lots of hand-cut fabric feathers. When will I have time to cut those feathers? Uh…probably never. But with the AccuQuilt Go! I could use the dies from the “Go Ribbon Twist” set (http://www.accuquilt.com/go-shop/dies/borders/go-ribbon-twist.html) and easily get all the shapes I need in a ton of different fabrics for the coat.

Though I must admit the tag line “allows quilters and fabric crafters to cut fabric as much as 90% faster than scissors or rotary cutting. Perfect for the beginner and occasional quilter” had me giggling because (for me) it has the appeal of “cuts fabric quicker and with fewer ‘oops!’ moments than you would get by hand! Perfect for the beginner (or the uninitiated me)nor the occasionally math-inept (also me)!”

Thank you for offering this giveaway,

So far the quilting journey has been fun but a little daunting, preferring to buy precuts because I’m not that confident in cutting small pieces by hand and having them all the same size….my luck, I’d end up with a crazy quilt rather than something symmetrical and perfect….and I do like perfect.

Yesterday I found out that I will have a Nephew. I knew I was going to be an Aunt but now I know what color of fabric to buy. I first plan to make a flannel baby blanket, because flannel says cozy. I am in college so I can only do one project at a time, but by June 5th there will be lots of things for him (her due date).
(confession) I still have my baby blankets from when I was born. I know the importance of a durable and comfortable blanket, and the abuse it will go through. My blankets have traveled the world for 22 years, I can only hope that the one I make my nephew will be just as comforting for him. I now have a use for my baby patterns. I think a chicken plushie is in the works as well (my sister and I are chicken people). I know that it will need a soft ribbon on it for the fingers to worry on (experience). :P
