Quilting Modern Blog Blast ~ Weekend Celebration!

on June 2 | in Contests & Giveaways, Products | by | with 32 Comments

Free Pattern + Fabric Friday is still up through the weekend! Play our little game of “Which Fabrics Would You Choose?” with the awesome, reversible Split Personality Reversible Bag, and win the pattern plus the fabric to make the bag!

We’re excited to participate in the big weekend book celebration for the new Quilting Modern: Techniques and Projects for Improvisational Quilts by Jacquie Gering and Katie Pedersen.

Jacquie and Katie have led the charge with a here-to-last trend toward fresh, modern quilting designs! You know Jacquie from Tallgrass Prairie Studio, the Modern Quilt Guild board and you might remember her gorgeous project here on the blog for our Christmas in July series or her fun interview. Katie from Sew Katie Did has also joined us on the blog and wows us all the time with her designs; she is talented teacher of improvisational quilting, value and general quilting in her hometown (Seattle for any of you local sewists!).

Quilting Modern explores seven core improvisational techniques, with a collection of projects for each technique to help you learn, practice and create. Make quilts, wall hangings, pillowcases and table accessories, and stretch your skills with step-by-step guidance from Jacquie and Katie.

There’s just the right, hard-to-find mix here in Quilting Modern: Techniques and Projects for Improvisational Quilts– Enough support, tips, technique and design to give you confidence and skills, plus improvisational tools to give you freedom in your quilting approach.

We’re so happy for Jacquie and Katie, and we’re excited to learn from Quilting Modern too. It’s packed full of inspiration, must-do projects and the modern quilting we love.

Stop by the other sites involved in this weekend’s Quilting Modern celebration to learn more. You can see lots of amazing projects inspired by the book and learn a little more about the designs. Many of the stops have a chance for you to win a copy of the book too, so settle in and have fun!

What a cute little quilt. I’ve been watinng to get one made for my Granddaughter and a matching quilt for her doll too. Classes sounds great Chris. You’ll probably do really well with those. Heck I might even consider driving in for those but not during the winter more than likely. Right now though I don’t even have a car to drive until we can figure out how to get hubby’s fixed IF it can be fixed.

This is the most wonderful book. It inspires without being intimidating, which many quilt books don’t manage. A non-quilting friend and I happened upon Katie’s quilts at Island Quilter up on Vashon and both of us were astounded by the beauty and craftsmanship. They were hung like art in a gallery, which was absolutely appropriate.
