Introducing ~ Mary from Mary on Lake Pulaski

Mary’s up next with a machine binding tutorial; first enjoy her introduction and take a look around the Mary on Lake Pulaski blog. Mary creates everything from fun items for her lucky grandchildren to quilts and more. Look at some of her favorite projects from 2012! Enjoy, and stop back for the tutorial…

I’m Mary from Mary on Lake Pulaski and I am here to share a tutorial on how I add my binding to everything from quilts to hot pads all by machine. But the way I do it is different from most; you can not tell from the front that the binding has been done by machine (really!)! This method is quick and the result is so sturdy that it will never come loose in machine washings like many hand bound quilts can.

Mary’s Swoon Quilt

A little about me: I’m a farm girl from Minnesota that is happily retired from a career in investigating mortgage fraud. My most important job now is being a grandma to Audrey and Vince and spending time on the lake where we are blessed to live. I am a complete fabricholic and have enjoyed sewing for 40+ years, making everything from bibs to costumes to quilts.

Drunkard’s Path Quilt by Mary

Here are two of my recent quilts. First is the famous Swoon pattern by Camille Roskelley made using Daisy Cottage by Lori Holt for Riley Blake. I think this pattern and fabric work perfect together. The second quilt is a Drunkard’s Path quilt made using Salt Air by Cosmo Cricket for Moda. This was great fun to put together.
