I just machine bound my quilt today for the first time the conventional way and was quite pleased with myself when I saw this. Learning new things everyday. Will try this on my next quilt.

Hmm, interesting option – but after I sew a binding on the front by machine, I think it looks nicer if you hand-sew the back of the binding. Somehow I enjoy that final step!

Mary, this is something I’ve not done before and I’ll be sure to give it a try. Your tutorial is very good and thorough. I turn my quilt and back off the edge on the corners at an angle as you are describing. The only thing that I do differently is that I trim my completed quilt to square it up before attaching the binding. How do you square up your quilts? Thanks for sharing, Mary!
