Erin’s up next to show you how to quilt a sewing machine cover to keep it dust-free and pretty! Erin blogs at Sew at Home Mummy. We love her modern takes on classic techniques like in this recent Dresden block. Look around Sew at Home Mummy for lots of tips, link-ups and more!

Hi there! My name is Erin Davis and I blog over at Sew at Home Mummy. My husband and I moved to Chicago from Vancouver, BC almost two years ago for a position he couldn’t refuse. Since then, we’ve had a baby girl named Audrey (the first American in the family!), who is now 11 months old. She keeps me very busy!

In my “spare” time I love to sew; for years (twenty, to be exact,) I mostly made garments-– bridesmaid’s dresses, clothing, coats, etc. Up until 2012, I’d only ever made two quilts; I never really got into quilting until I was pregnant with Audrey last year. I love fabric and color, and I really enjoy coming up with ways to put a modern spin on classic quilting techniques and blocks.

I don’t think my parents really know what to do with me now. I’ve jumped into quilting, both feet in the deep end, and the letters behind my name I worked for so many years to obtain through schooling (in their eyes!) are going to waste… But I am lovin’ every minute of it. I get to be a stay at home mom and have an amazing creative outlet!
