Diya from The Hobby Harbor joins us today with a spring top tutorial. Diya lives in India, where she makes colorful clothes in her home on a lake. She’s not afraid to jump in and sew something new, whether it’s new shorts and boxers or a pretty vintage-inspired dress. Visit Diya on her blog for more!
Hello Sew,Mama,Sew! readers! I am Diya, and I blog at The Hobby Harbor about my sewing adventures. To read more about me hop on to the About Me page on my blog. I am a self-taught seamstress and I find sewing and drafting patterns very exciting. I would love to share some pattern drafting tutorials in the future posts. So if it is your cup of tea then visit me at my blog and say “Hello.” I would love to meet new sewing friends.
Let me share some of my favourite self-drafted projects to date here. My favourite top– which I self-drafted– was a cowl top with messy prints. This was my first project with sheer fabric too.
Later I drafted a buttoned blouse with an asymmetrical front. I love the cherry print all over it. I love making projects from sewing books as well. Recently I started a link party on sewing books. If you have made any projects from books then feel free to link up! These are pictures of two skirts that I learned to draft from a book; check out the details in this post. It was fun painting the fabric to create this chevron skirt.
It is a good feeling to sew things for friends and family as well. This one is a sweet little skirt I drafted for my little niece. Taking photos of my projects is also something I love to do. This is my all-time favourite Rosie skirt, which I made for my friend.
I am happy to share a tutorial with you all today here at Sew,Mama,Sew! Happy Sewing!
