Anshu from Blooms and Bugs joins us next with a Stars + Stripes sundress, perfect for hot summer days! First learn more about Anshu and her sewing…

Hello there, this is Anshu from Blooms and Bugs. I feel so honored and privileged to be a guest on Sew Mama Sew. I have loved reading inspiring articles and beautiful projects here for a long time. So now that I am guest posting here, I feel kind of awed and proud at the same time to join the club of these highly respected bloggers. These are the blogs I have followed for years and learned so much from. I hope my post also inspires you in some way.

I was introduced to the fascinating world of sewing by my aunt when I was seven and I fell in love immediately. I have been sewing on and off ever since. A demanding career in a highly competitive field (I work as a hardware Engineer in my day job) meant that I couldn’t sew as much as I wanted to. For years I didn’t even touch the sewing machine.

However, the birth of my daughter changed all that. I started off by sewing a couple of dresses for her during my maternity leave. Before I knew it, I was sewing wash clothes, diapers, pants and everything imaginable for her. By the time she turned two, I had an Etsy store and also a sewing blog. It has been an immensely satisfying and rewarding journey. I feel that there is something therapeutic about sewing those neat rows of tiny stitches on the fabric.

The picture above is from the flower girl collection that I have just launched in my Blooms and Bugs Etsy store. It has tutu dresses and coordinating accessories for little girls.

You could also drop by my blog for more sewing inspiration, tutorials and roundups.

It has been a fun journey so far and I am learning something new each day.
