Summer Sewing Inspiration ~ Dress + Playsuit

on June 19 | in Featured Creativity | by | with 3 Comments

Maggie Mae dress (left) designed by Shwin & Swhin Design, sewn by Compagnie M. The Playsuit is Marte’s free pattern (girl sizes 1 – 6 years old).

Marte wrote to us about her recent, super-cute dress and playsuit projects. Marte sews at Compagnie M. (where the “M.” stands for Marte!).

From Marte:

The Maggie Mae dress by Shwin & Shwin Design is one of my all time favourite patterns. It was one of my very first pins on Pinterest. I kind of forgot about the pattern until I saw a finished dress on ‘All This For Them’ sewn by Mary Jo. That’s the moment I was triggered to make my own version! Although I have identical twins, I just thought this was a “Nore dress.” The blue print and mustard yellow is just the perfect combination. Both fabrics are from Free Spirit. I really love them! For more about the Maggie Mae dress see this post at Compagnie M.

Because I was invited for the Rompers series hosted by ‘Sewing Mama RaeAnna,’ I just felt like drawing my own Playsuit/Romper pattern. You can learn more about the playsuit in this post at Compagnie M. I saw the asymmetrical line on a women’s dress on Pinterest and swapped the idea to a romper with one asymmetrical pocket. I have five free patterns available, but this one is absolutely my most popular one. I love rompers because it’s just a kid thing! Like my free pattern? Just request it here.

More from Marte:
These are some of my favourite blogs: StraightGrain, Elegance & Elephants, Suburbia Soup and Sanae Ishida. I recently discovered Japanese sewing books and I love them! Pinterest is my most important inspiration source, of course. And I would be lost without my pattern drawing study book. Just check my blog if you like to discover more of my work and my free patterns. I have five available at the moment!
