We’re looking for fun, “WOW!” sewing to feature in coming months. Send links to recent projects you’ve seen or created to email@example.com. Right now we’re looking for gorgeous quilt projects, summery clothes, Christmas in July projects and more!
My rainbow quilt is one of many rainbow-related projects I’ve completed in the last few months. I love color and have always loved rainbows. My heart honestly races every time I see a rainbow (trips to Hawaii are always very exciting for me). I used a solid piece of white fabric for the background and the colors of the rainbow are made with small scraps of my favorite fabrics (about ¾” – 1 ½”), and quilted with matching thread in an arch shape. The finished quilt measures about 20″ square. Having a young children has reminded me of my childhood love of rainbows and that has definitely spilled into my crafts. Recently I’ve made a mosaic rainbow, a rainbow star and a sewing machine cover. For the Scrappy Rainbow Quilt, I particularly loved how the stipple quilting looks like clouds above the rainbow. It’s definitely a wonderful addition to my sewing room and always brightens my day. I currently have it for sale, but it definitely won’t break my heart if it doesn’t get sold anytime soon!
More about Jodie:
I am not a member of a local guild, but I am the new Creative Activities Leader for our local Mops (Mothers of Preschoolers) group. Sadly, we no longer have a Modern Quilt Guild in my area and the traditional guild in town meets at a time I am unable to attend. I’ve been quilting for about six years and recently built a house with a dedicated sewing room (here: A Tour of My Sewing Room & Office, and here: Treasures from the Coast); it makes me giddy every time I go in there. How did I get so lucky?
