I’m Victoria from Little Black Duck and creating is an important part of my life. If I’ve not got something on the go I become restless! Even when I do have something on the go I seem to be restless, like many of us crafting folk; one project at a time is never enough!

My mum was a brilliant seamstress (even though she will never agree) and when I was growing up she taught me the basics of sewing and how to read a pattern. I asked for a sewing machine for my 18th birthday and off I went into the world of sewing. I made some fairly terrible things and made some terrible fabric choices, but you learn from your mistakes. After university I went into the corporate world and at the same time studied at the London College of Fashion. I set up my business Little Black Duck back in 2006 and for a number of years (before my girls came along) I designed and made a range of leather and suede interiors, accessories and bags. I was lucky enough to have some of my products stocked by some large department stores in the UK.

Since having my girls (who are now nearly 5 and 2 1/2) my business has changed and evolved as my time seems to have disappeared! I am currently designing a range of sewing patterns, one of which I have designed exclusively for readers of Sew Mama Sew.

We are fortunate enough to live in an old converted water mill in the middle of the Shropshire countryside in the UK and I work at every opportunity that my girls allow! I also write a blog where I talk about my sewing, knitting and crafting exploits, come and say hello at Little Black Duck.
