Summer Sewing Inspiration: Kid Shorts

Sherri has a great series of tutorials at Thread Riding Hood for knit shorts using a self-drafted pattern. Sherri includes tutorials for five variations of shorts, including these sport shorts with a lining. You could use her tutorials to whip up an entry for the Shorts on the Line contest (just note the Saturday deadline!).

Sherri’s shorts all use knits (repurposed men’s golf shirts, single and double knit, jersey and interlock!) and all start with her “How to Make the Pattern” Tutorial. She also has a printable Size 3 pattern here.

From Sherri:
I decided to make a pattern drafting tutorial because I wanted to share how simple it can be to make a pair of children’s pants with things you already have at home. Shorts were a good choice for spring/summer, and my daughter needed a few more anyhow! I love that the same pattern can be used so many different ways: with kneepads/skort/lined. I am attempting to de-stash this year so I wanted to challenge myself to use only knits I had collected in my sewing closet.
