Super Online Sewing Match: Round Two Contestants

on July 17 | in Contests & Giveaways | by | with 4 Comments

There was some fierce competition in the Round One Challenge of our Super Online Sewing Match! We were all so impressed with the contestants’ skill, attention to detail and with the beautiful skirts. It was very challenging to choose just eight contestants to proceed. As one of our judges noted, “I have to admit that the judging was ridiculously hard… There were no bad skirts and all were great successes!”

Nicole, Ngoc, Kelli, Charise, Lori, Sue, Ashley and Melissa all move ahead to Round Two. We’ll announce the pattern for Round Two shortly, but first check out what our judges had to say about some of their favorite skirts:

Lori from Girls in the Garden

Rochelle said, “At first glance, you can really tell Lori went above and beyond with added details. You might think the piping, bow belt, belt loops, front pleat, and interesting fabric sounds too busy, but Lori used all of the right things in all of the right places to make all of those details really harmonize and compliment each other. The skirt is equally unique and well made!”

Charise from Charise Creates

Florence said, “This skirt was beautifully finished: the piping lined up perfectly at the zip, as did the top edges of the skirt. It was beautifully lined with no raw edges showing and the stitching looked even.”

Sue from A Colourful Canvas

Florence said, “The Petersham ribbon and top edges of the skirt stayed perfectly level at the invisible zipper and the invisible zipper was delightfully invisible. The inside of the skirt looked perfectly finished with its self-facing and light-weight lining and I appreciated the overlocked seams in addition to this. This skirt looked clean, crisp and beautifully finished.”

Andrea said, “She did a great job sewing the yoke seams evenly and lining them up at the sides. I appreciate the other practical details she added, such as the button tab, hidden waist pocket and lining.”

Nicole from Nicole at Home

Julia said, “Nicole had the perfect combination of excellent design and excellent construction. The fine detailing of the skirt with bound seams, perfect stitching and zipper insertion made the skirt look fabulous on the outside and the inside. The design of this skirt was also a great success and the fit of the skirt was spot on.”

Congrats to all of the contestants! All of the skirts were beautiful and I don’t envy the judges at all. Style-wise, Kelli’s and Melissa’s were my favourite – now I’m jonesing for a red/burgabndy skirt with cute pockets for the fall…

Great job everyone! I agree with Kristonlion, though – Irene’s was definitely my favorite :)
