Note: Don’t miss Free Fabric Friday this weekend!

It’s time for our six contestants to meet their new challenge. After two rounds of clothing it’s time for a BAG! We’ve selected the It’s a Cinch! Tote PDF bag pattern by Lisa Lam of U-Handbag for our Round Three Challenge.

We’re excited to see what our contestants do with this fun design; the cinched sides, hardware and zippers all add great detail to the bag. The bag is big enough for a laptop and includes some nice pockets on the inside to help with organization. Lisa is the author of the popular The Bag Making Bible: The Complete Creative Guide to Sewing Your Own Bags and A Bag for All Reasons.

Lisa writes, “I like a bag to be roomy and to be smart-casual, this way I can use the same bag on most days and not have to keep swapping the contents out of lots of different bags. This bag is just perfect for that! It’s a smart (yet relaxed) looking bag and it’s so versatile. It looks the part pretty much whatever you’re doing and wherever you’re going…”

Our six contestants can work on their bags through August 4. If you want to join the Community Match (for a chance to win some really great prizes) you can sew through September 10th.

Sew along with us! Lisa has generously provided a 20% discount for orders in her pattern shop. You can use it for the It’s a Cinch! Tote pattern or any other pattern you see and love. Use the code “SMSSB” at U-Handbag Patterns. There is no time limit for this discount code.
