Sewing Inspiration: Cambie

on August 28 | in Sewing Inspiration | by | with 1 Comment

Roisin made her version of the Sewaholic Cambie dress in polka dot poplin. Roisin blogs at But it can’t be From Dolly Clackett. She gave me an Easter Egg! and she has made many versions of the Cambie. Don’t miss her amazing handmade wardrobe (we counted six Cambies!)…

Roisin writes,

“By this stage I had made the pattern I few times, and I have made it many times since because it is so pretty and so versatile to wear. I bought the poplin in my local fabric shop and sadly it faded a little bit after the first wash, but I just love polka dots so I don’t mind a bit! I didn’t make it for any special reason, I just love polka dots, but I was inspired by Sew Busy Lizzy’s reverse coloured polka dot Cambie dress! You can see it here.

I made the dress last summer and have worn it loads since then, despite the fading issue. I would be tempted to make another in another polka dot colourway! This pattern is the bomb; it’s so easy to put together and cute, and the instructions make it so simple to finish it beautifully.”

I’ve actually just blogged about my version of the Cambie. I’m also a major fan of this pattern – it’s just the perfect summer dress isn’t it!
