We have a few great Colette Negroni shirts to share with you this week as inspiration for our Round Four challenge in the Super Online Sewing Match! Lavender from threadsquare created this “Old Fashioned” version in cotton for her guy; it features some awesome red snaps, repurposed accent fabric and more.

Lavender writes,

“I made this long-anticipated button up shirt for my husband, who is definitely deserving of another handmade garment by now. The main fabric is cotton that I’d had in my stash for several years. It was one of those purchases… You know the sort. You spot fabric, and buy up yards and yards without a plan, just that you’ll use it. One day. Though I still love the fabric, I don’t really do that any longer. The contrast cotton used for the under collar, sleeve plackets and cuff came from a pair of boxers that I bought for him when we first started dating. Maybe a little TMI, but I love the stripe and couldn’t resist salvaging a little bit of it! I really like upcycling, especially when the fabric has known history. Quilts made from garments that have fulfilled that role are so precious. I don’t quilt all that much right now, so this was a small substitute.”

Lavender recently re-relocated to Austin and recently discovered Sewing with Style. She writes that she’s, “…Psyched to get to know the members!” Learn more about her Negroni, including info on a few construction changes and more photos, at threadsquare.
