The Super Online Sewing Match: Round Four Challenge

on August 7 | in Contests & Giveaways, Sponsors + Partners | by | with 1 Comment

We have four excellent sewists in serious, down-to-the-wire competition for the Grand Prize, a Janome Horizon MC8900. Kristin and I were busy planning the Super Online Sewing Match at Quilt Market last May. We were lucky enough to see the Colette studio in Portland one evening after Market and we knew we had to include a Colette pattern in the Match! It is pure joy to peruse racks of Colette samples, all sewn up in the most beautiful fabrics. The only trick was 1) to persuade Sarai Mitnick of Colette Patterns to join the fun (which she graciously did!), and 2) to select just one pattern for the Match! Colette Patterns have lovely detailing, a sophisticated vintage flair and they are so very flattering. In the end Sarai was eager to play along and we think a design that includes buttonholes, a collar, cuffs and plackets is just right for the Round Four Challenge. We can’t wait to see how our four competitors tackle the popular Negroni shirt!

From Colette Patterns:

For men that like a classic, slightly retro shirt with a more modern cut, this shirt pattern is just the thing. The instructions will guide you gently through every step of creating a well-crafted casual shirt: felled seams, a lined back yoke, and sleeve plackets on the long sleeve version. Subtle details include a convertible collar (also known as a “camp collar”) and mid-century style collar loop detail.

Our four contestants can work on their Negroni shirt through August 18. Join the Community Match (for a chance to win some amazing prizes) and you can sew your Negroni through September 10th!

Coupon Code:
Sarai has generously provided a 15% off coupon for Colette Patterns, good through September 15. The code is SEWINGMATCH (must be all caps). We hope you’ll sew along!

I’m looking forward to seeing the Negroni shirts from the remaining finalists. I actually have this pattern in my stash, so I may sew along!
