I like to embroider in the car (when my husband’s driving) or in the evenings after all the kids are asleep. And I really like that with handwork (embroidery/quilting) you can sneak in 5 minutes here or there–that’s so much harder to do with machine sewing!

Hi there and thanks for the awesome giveaway! I have my sewing area set up in my bedroom. I just became interested in sewing last December of 2012 and so started watching a ton of YouTube videos and taught myself how to sew! I am really quite impressed with how I’ve grown. I purchased the Brother SE400 Sewing/Embroidery machine in Jan of 2012 and love it!! So for the most part my routine is this: I bring my fabric out into the living room to cut it there, more room, and then I take it into my bedroom/sewing room to do the stitching part of it. However, if I’m just ripping seams out from a mistake I’ve made I’ll sit on the couch and watch a little tv or something. Thank goodness I don’t’ have to do that to often! πŸ˜‰ I still have a long way to come on my embroidery and applique but am learning everyday and getting better and better. In fact I’ve had a ton of custom orders thrown at me left and right for embroidered baby onesies to halloween costumes and a lot in between!! I use MyEditor and am learning how to use Embird for my embroidery software. I already have over 200 designs saved in a folder on my desktop! πŸ™‚ Kelly C of Idaho.

I keep each of my embroidery projects in their own bag complete with scissors and needles. Then I can grab one and go. I sew at my kids dance lessons and sporting events. On my front porch with a warm cup of apple cider in the morning. At my in-laws. While visiting with friends and at home in front of the t.v. at night. Before I was diagnosed with lupus I couldn’t hold a pencil, let alone a needle. Once we got things under control being able to use that tiny needle to make beautiful things is sheer joy. So, my sewing goes just about everywhere.

  72. cecile says:

Hey, I did not read to the end. I like to do embroidery when my kids play outside, as long as the weather is nice enough. If it’s not, then it’s inside, with a cup of tea and sitting in a chair in the Sun.

The first time he didn’t argue with my choice of top in a while.

  152. Wendy TC says:

I stitch mostly in front of the TV or waiting in the car for my kids. However, if the project is small enough, I also get in some stitches while waiting for water to boil for pasts, veg to finish steaming, microwave to complete it’s task, etc. In other words, filling in those little bits of time with stitching (or knitting).

  153. Joan says:

I usually stitch while sitting on the couch while watching tv. Last year I stitched The Wish Quilt by Red Brolly and this year I am stitching Daisy Days by Jenny of Elefantz. Embroidery is one of my favourite hobbies. Thank you for the generous giveaway. The book looks great.

  154. Teresa says:

I stitch at night, while watching tv.

  155. Stefanie Ladley says:

I have recently picked up embroidery again in order to do some stitcheries on some of my quilts I’m making for Christmas presents. I like to sit down in front of the tv as I find that relaxing for me πŸ™‚

  156. Jess H says:

Recently I have been stitching on the couch curled up with a candle on and a cup of tea – the perfect thing to do in the fall in my opinion. My projects could definitely benefit from improved stitching techniques, though.

  157. Isabel A. says:

I love to stitch on the couch watching TV at the same time.

  158. Sue Staum says:

I love this book! I have been hand-stitching for more than 55 years since back in my Girl Scout days in the 60s. When I am working on a project I mostly sit in my comfy chair by the fireplace and with a great view of the little lake we live on.
Thanks for a chance to win!

  160. Kay Holm says:

I stitch when the tv is on but it isn’t something I am particularly interested in. That way I am with the family and still enjoying my stitching!

  161. sangeetha says:

I love to embroider, although I have to be honest I have not done it in a while. the details, the colors, it’s like another form of painting.

this book looks cool, modern and cute – that octopus put a smile on my face

  165. Anelda Smith says:

I embroider while I’m visiting our aunt in the nursing home every day. I can spend time with her and still create. I sometimes embroider in the evening on the couch with hubby also.

I do the majority of my stitching laying in bed watching tv while my daughters nap. But I always bring a project along in the car when I’m in the passenger seat.

  167. Siew says:

    I’m a car/road trip stitcher for sure.

  168. Sarah N says:

That giant octopus is delightful! Alyssa’s video is great – what a clever idea to use the away knot off to the side like that. As for location, I wish I could sew in front of the TV, but I’d get nothing done – I’m too easily distracted. I try and do hand work with some music on and a good cup of tea close by : )

  169. Barbara says:

My favorite place to stitch (or sew or crochet) is in my garden, where I can enjoy the sun and let my thoughts wander while I work.

  170. Brie says:

I stitch on the couch or in the car line waiting for the kids to get out of school! I love handwork!

I stitched on the sofa while watching tv and when I am waiting to pick up my daughter! I love the giant octopus! Thank you for the giveaway.

  172. Mary says:

I usually do my handwork in the car waiting for drop off and pick up at my son’s school. And sometimes I get a little bit in at night when everyone’s in bed, because it’s so nice to just sit and watch a show and stitch.
