It’s time for another look at the latest sewing trends with Rachael from imagine gnats. We had a special Costume Trends post earlier this month too! Let us know what you’re sewing in the comments. Are you using lots of flannel? Do you have a new jacket all sewn up for the new season?!

Look for Rachael’s sewing and embroidery patterns in her shop, and find Rachael on Facebook, Instagram, Twitter and Pinterest.

Jackets + Coats
It’s time to think about bundling up for cold weather, and I’m seeing lots of great jacket and coat options for kids of all sizes.

Flannel
Another cold-weather-is-coming sign is lots of cozy flannel being used in projects from clothing to quilts.

Clockwise, from top left: Flannel Scout Tee by Love Lola, Flannel Lounge Robes by luvinthemommyhood, Painted Portrait Dress by Low Beam Studios, Herringbone Quilt (flannel-backed) by Maureen Cracknell Handmade, Sally Dress by girl like the sea, F is for Flannel Pants by Fly and Nest.

Pumpkins
What would October be without pumpkins? Whether you want to decorate your home, keep warm or prepare for trick-or-treating, there is no shortage of pumpkin-inspired sewing happening right now.

Clockwise, from top left: Yoga Pants by mamma190, Spooktacular Quilt by During Quiet Time, Bimaa Hoodie by Casa Crafty, Meridian Cardi by Just Me Jay, Charlie Brown Pumpkin by Frances & Suzanne, Pumpkin Pillow by Buzzmills.

Classic Skirts
A classic skirt is perfect for all seasons! Lately I’ve been seeing skirts with special details like pretty piping, contrast fabrics and hand painting, ready for wearing with tights and boots as cold weather continues to creep in.
