This giveaway is now closed. Thanks!

Alissa Haight Carlton of Handmade by Alissa has a new Modern Solids fabric line out, available in shops now!

Alissa is the author of Modern Minimal: 20 Bold & Graphic Quilts. She’s also founder and Executive Director of the Modern Quilt Guild, and the talented designer behind our first Block of the Month series here at Sew Mama Sew.

Alissa’s beautiful new solid line is all yarn dyed, cross weave fabric. The fabric is created by weaving two different thread colors together.

This weave gives the fabric beautiful drape, great texture and a depth of color you don’t see with printed fabrics. Here’s a fun look into Alissa’s process for selecting the colors in the collection, and here’s a look at one of Alissa’s latest quilts featuring the fabrics.

Alissa’s fabrics are a new “brights” addition to the line with twenty new Modern Solids II colors.

Win a fat quarter bundle of Modern Solids II with your comment below! Tell us which colors you tend to gravitate towards in your sewing and why. You can also find Modern Solids in lots of shops. (We’ve recently seen it at Sew Modern, Pink Chalk Fabrics, Winter Creek Cloth, Cuts of Cotton and more.)

She’s been making a lot of gifts at the moment, but I’m we’ve been talking about looking at some blues for a winter themed quilt. If I’d seen more than one thing she’s made for herself this year I’d be able to tell you what colors she gravitates towards most.

I love the way these fabrics were put together and the wonderful textured look of the complimentary colors in the weave.
