Our newest challenge pairs six talented sewists with Red Ruby Oakshott shot cottons! Debbie from A Quilter’s Table, Jen of BettyCrockerAss, Malka of A Stitch in Dye, Deborah from Whipstitch, Kristy of St. Louis Folk Victorian and Beth of Plum and June each made a mini quilt for our Oakshott Ruby Mini Quilt Challenge, incorporating at least six colors from a fat quarter bundle. Each of the Oakshott Ruby fabrics shares the same red warp color so they coordinate beautifully.
Debbie writes, “I totally expected the Oakshotts coming my way to be beautiful. I mean, I had heard others describe them and seen photos of their projects, but oh my! To experience them in person, I was stunned by their luminescence. I seriously just stared at the stack for a few days before I could even consider what to do with them.” Learn all about how Debbie decided to piece and quilt “Red Hots” at A Quilter’s Table. Debbie shows you how to make the striking, Striped Binding and Straight Matched Binding she used in her mini quilt. (And if you’re looking for even more binding info she also has a great tutorial for Angled Matched Binding.)
You can purchase Oakshott Fabrics at local regional quilt shops, directly from the manufacturer in the UK, or online from Contemporary Cloth in the US. We also have a fat eighth bundle with 16 gorgeous pieces of Oakshott Ruby to giveaway! Comment on any of our Mini Quilt Challenge posts for a chance to win.
