Handmade Holidays Nov. 18: Gifts for Boys

on November 18 | in Books, Contests & Giveaways, Handmade Holidays, Sponsors + Partners | by | with 239 Comments

These gifts work for boys or girls, of course, but in an online sewing world of skirts, hair accessories and more it is fun to feature ideas we know boys will love. Sew something awesome for a boy this holiday season!

Today’s Guest Curator: Bonnie Ferguson of Fishsticks Designs

Bonnie Ferguson adores sewing and sews something nearly every single day! She’s a mom of six and the designer behind Fishsticks Designs Sewing Patterns. Bonnie loves teaching new sewing skills and encourages sewing things that are fun and creative, while also practical and useful. Her pattern line focuses on children’s clothing (with plenty of stuff for boys) and accessories for the whole family. You can find her sewing patterns online as ePatterns and in your favorite local quilt shop in traditional paper form.

Bonnie writes, “We have six children. Four of those are boys who range in age from 21 down to four, so I know that finding things to sew for boys of all ages can be really hard! One of my primary goals in blogging and designing is to help moms (and grandmothers and dads too!) of boys find ways to sew for them that are unique, interesting and fashionable, but still kid-friendly and practical. I’m also an instant-gratification kind of sewist. I like projects that can be done in a few hours because, as moms, sometimes naptime is the only time we have!”
