Meet the Judges: Jenny Rushmore of Cashmerette

on June 21 | in Super Online Sewing Match | by | with 1 Comment

We’re introducing you to our Super Online Sewing Match judges, all talented garment sewists with inspiring style and skill. Next up is Jenny Rushmore, Founder and Creative Director of Cashmerette.

Originally from Scotland, Jenny Rushmore is a curvy sewing blogger who traveled the world and now lives in Boston, Massachusetts. Since she learned to sew at the “ripe old age of 30,” Jenny has been blogging at Cashmerette. Last year she co-founded the Curvy Sewing Collective, a site dedicated to sewing inspiration, advice and body positivity for curvy women. Sewing transformed Jenny’s body image, and now she’s passionate about sharing that experience with others.

Her latest venture is the release of the Cashmerette Curvy Sketchbooks, a line of sketchbooks with curvy figure outlines to help sewists and fashion designers plan their next make, and record notes on things like adjustments they made.

Jenny and Cashmerette can also be found on Facebook, Twitter, Instagram and Pinterest.

Jenny has great style and is a skilled garment sewist. We appreciate all the work that she and the other members of the Curvy Sewing Collective are doing to make the online sewing community a body-positive space that is inclusive of people of all shapes and sizes. We’re excited that she’ll be helping to judge this contest!

I wish I had known you were going to have a curvy judge. I might have thrown my hat in the ring then. Too often full-sized women are marginalized in our society, so I just figured this was a competition for thin women. Maybe next time! 🙂
