Super Online Sewing Match Round ONE: Sutton Blouse

on June 24 | in Super Online Sewing Match | by | with 4 Comments

Kelli from True Bias was the Grand Prize Winner in our first Super Online Sewing Match. She put her new Janome to work, growing a thriving business with popular garment patterns for women and children. We’re so pleased to announce that our Round One Challenge in the Super Online Sewing Match is Kelli’s Sutton Blouse pattern!

The Sutton Blouse is a loose fitting V-neck top with kimono sleeves, a one piece yoke, and a back inverted pleat. The back is longer than the front and includes slits at both of the lower side seams.

The Sutton Blouse is available as a PDF pattern so you can instantly download and sew. (Time is of the essence in this match!) Kelli joins us on Friday to show you how to create a slit on the side seam of any garment, much like the slit on the side seams of the Sutton Blouse. Watch the site this week for information on our Community Match… You can sew along for a chance at some great prizes too! For this round you can sew any blouse/top pattern and enter to win.

Our challengers all have their patterns and gift certificates from Harts Fabric, so they’re set to sew their Sutton Blouse by June 30. Our judges will then have the difficult task to eliminate two Round One contestants. Meet all of our challengers here!

Here’s all of the information for our match, plus a calendar of big events and deadlines in the contest.

I think it’s wonderful that the first pattern is from last season’s winner. I think that is only too apropos. I am looking forward to keeping the same deadlines as the contestants. I can’t wait to see what they come up with. I like the pattern. It’s not a style I would typically wear, I tend towards things a little more fitted but, I am intrigued by the idea of making the pattern my own and altering it to my taste. Will the community match information be up before the end of the first challenge? I really want to be able to participate in real time. Thanks for doing this again.

Unfortunately that is very unlike anything I would wear, though if I raised the neckline I bet my younger sister would love it 😀 I prefer more fitted bodices and blouses for myself, in fact at the moment I am wearing a blouse I made recently. I had to alter the shoulder length, they had it at around 7 1/2 inches long o__O that would look truly crazy hanging down like that 😛 I will see if I can find anything suitable in my dwindling stash to make something for the community sew along 😀

Woo! I’ll be playing along at home to see if I can live up to the challenge and deadlines–and create more garments so maybe you’ll consider me for next time. 🙂
