Mary Abreu from Confessions of a Craft Addict has been crafting most of her life, although she admits that sticking to one or two is a challenge (hence the “ADD crafter” moniker). She is the author of two books: Little Girls, Big Style: Sew a Boutique Wardrobe from 4 Easy Patterns (November 2010) and Modern Style for Girls: Sew a Boutique Wardrobe (October 2015), both from Stash Books, an imprint of C&T Publishing.
Mary is an accomplished sewing instructor who teaches a wide range of classes, including beginning sewing, serger techniques, apparel and bag making, decoding sewing patterns and even quilting classes. She has sewn for fabric manufacturers and designers, creating tutorials and samples used to market new lines and patterns.
Mary has also worked as a seamstress with a small movie production company near Atlanta, and has wardrobe department credits on two short films, including The Candy Shop, starring Doug Jones. She enjoys attending pop culture conventions, where she is a regular presenter on the topics of pattern drafting and hacking, costuming for children and historically influenced costuming. She lives with her family near Atlanta, Georgia.
Mary created an info-packed series on costuming for us several years ago: Costuming: Concept, Planning, Construction + More!, Peasant Dress Costumes, Group Costume Ideas and Costuming: The Next Level. (Mary makes some absolutely stunning costumes…) She’s up next with lots of information about how to read and use garment patterns!
