Lotta Jansdotter helps you borrow some of her chic, modern aesthetic with the new Lotta Jansdotter’s Everyday Style: Key Pieces to Sew + Accessories, Styling, and Inspiration.
From the publisher:
- When Lotta Jansdotter steps out in one of her signature outfits, fans always ask, “Did you make that yourself?” Often the answer is, “Yes, and so can you!” With that in mind, the style icon created Lotta Jansdotter Everyday Style, a pattern book/inspiration guide anchored by five easy, versatile sewing patterns— skirt, dress, blouse, pants/shorts and jacket/coat— and highlighted with quick DIY accessories, including hats, bags, scarves and jewelry.
Photographed over the course of a year in her life in New York, Tennessee, India and Sweden and organized by season, Jansdotter shares her sources of inspiration and how she and her friends mix and match her key pieces while working, playing, resting and traveling.Lotta Jansdotter Everyday Style brings Jansdotter’s infectious and sought-after sense of style to new followers and longtime devotees alike.
Lotta collaborated with pattern maker Alexia Abegg to create patterns in sizes XS through XL. Lotta writes that the patterns are all based on “…My ideas, vision and style, which is rather non fussy – simple lines and classic cuts, cute and functional everyday clothes… Since this book is focused on easy patterns it won’t intimidate a novice sewer.”
We love how the book shows how the patterns work in real life, and we also appreciate the sprinkling of hand drawn notes and instructions. Lotta’s friends and family, in a beautiful variety of ages, also add something really special to the book. There’s a warmth and happiness in the pages that draws you in, and makes you feel like one of Lotta’s crew. We’re big fans, of course!
We have an excerpt from the book showing how to make a Triangle Scarf with Pom-Poms. Make a stash for gift giving through the year, or add a set to your own wardrobe for a bit of that aforementioned chic, modern touch! Click here to download the easy how-to. You’ll need woven fabric, pom-poms and thread for this project (Lotta recommends linen or silk).
