I’m Elles – a kids wear designer, all-round creative & mother from the Netherlands. I was raised in a creative Dutch family – my mother taught me the art of making your own clothes, just like her mother did before her. As a teenager I sewed my own clothing, using Burda patterns and altering them to my style & taste.
I studied fashion design at the Academy of Fine Arts in The Hague and have been working in the fashion industry ever since, mostly as a kids wear designer. A few years ago, when I was expecting my first child, I reconnected with my DIY roots. I kinda forgot that “handmade” used to be such a big part of my life, and I realized that my strength as a designer comes from that place.
With my PDF patterns I hope I can inspire & enable others to be creative and handmade as well!
After some time abroad, I’ve now settled in The Hague again with my husband Martijn and son Bing. Bing and his little friends are my biggest inspiration – all my patterns are named after someone in his little gang of babies & toddlers.
Next to sewing I like to be outside with my family as much as I can on my bike, long board, in my garden or at the beach.
We recently launched our all new pattern shop, featuring modern & fun PDF sewing patterns for babies & toddlers with a strong focus on knit fabric.
