on November 21 | in Handmade Holidays, Sewing Inspiration, Sewing Tutorials + Patterns | by | with 116 Comments

Purses and bags make the perfect gift for everyone on your list. You can customize them with fabric to match the recipient’s personality and one can never really have too many bags!

Today’s Guest Curator:
Aimee Leptick from The Little Bird Designs

From Aimee:
I’m a fabric hoarding mom with a zipper obsession! I began sewing the moment I could sit at the machine and reach the pedal! What started as a business making bags had grown into so much more! You can follow my bag and quilt making adventures on my blog or Instagram!

Make It

Miss Maggie
If you’ve ever wanted to venture into leather or vinyl, Miss Maggie is the perfect pattern for you! With the genius design of snaps on the sides, this bag can be customized in so many ways! Even in cotton or canvas this bag looks stunning and has that professional look!

Pampering Pouch
What’s cool about the Pampering Pouch is the snazzy curved frame hidden inside. This genius design stands up on its own and stays open even when open! It makes a great toiletry bag or essential oils pouch!

Tulip Zipper Case and Crossbody Zipster
The Tulip Zipper Case and Crossbody Zipster are the perfect patterns to learn a cool new zipper technique! Using one side of a zipper you can create this funky shaped pouch or bag and have a one of a kind design for the holidays! There’s lots of helpful information in this pattern and I can tell you, they are fun to make!

Feature Me Everyday Tote
The Feature Me Everyday Tote is just perfect for that fabric we all have that is just too beautiful to cut into! It gives you the perfect opportunity to show off that statement piece and carry it with you wherever you go! Bonus: Lisa has a collection of paper pieced panels to showcase in the centre of your bag too!

Flying Geese Pouch
A pattern that combines my new love of quilting with pouches! The Flying geese pouch is a great intro into quilting on a small scale. Pat Bravo’s design is an excellent way to use up scraps and make something one of a kind!

Turnabout Pouch
There’s something about the cute shape of this pouch that I love so much! Using a small bit of leather or vinyl, you can take the Turnabout pouch to the next level! Small enough to take for a night out but big enough for your phone and small wallet, they’d make the perfect stocking stuffer!

Leather Tassel Tutorial
The Tassel Tutorial by Emkie Designs, happens to be a serious favorite of mine! It’s the perfect and easy way to add a little something extra to your pouches and bags. You can make them out of leather or vinyl and it still looks great!

Easy Key Fob Tutorial
If you are looking for another fun extra to complete your bag set then the Easy Key Fob tutorial is for you! Using a combination of vinyl and fabric, you can create a unique keychain that matches your bag. Oh and don’t worry, you can use fabric instead of vinyl too!
